1.  Panchal , chance to show case his class.  Banging it ranji for years now and this year no different.  Seen him bat, class

2.  Shaw , needs as much experience as possible.

3.  Eswaran, bengal opener, scoring runs, needs more games to develop

4.  Gill , opens for punjab but for with top 4 spots in tests lokced good chance to show can be 5/6, for suited to middle order

5. Vihari

6. Bhui, 22 hot talent imo lets see what can do

7. Pant, yes test team certainty.  But more then batting needs as many games keeping as possible in red ball

8.  Kuleep Yadav , chance to show case red ball class and push for number one spot in tests

9. Rajpoot

10 Avesh Khan

11. Saini, very impressed with in recnt ranji, yes figures dont look good but was clicking 140 plus.  Been injured?  If come back agme I saw potential.

Mayank dont need the run out.  Guy is booked in for next 5 tests, plus bag loads of experience in red ball of A tours and Ranji.  Let others cant chance to use A games to develop

Plus I pick Mayank in Odi squad as back up opner.

O ok no Kuldeep then.  Not sure he 4th best spinner in india is?

We can try Shreyas Gopal or Mayank Markande if we want a wrist spinner.

I will put Aaron in the team, I like the rest recommended by most.

24 wickets in 7 matches with his performance getting below par with each match, does not deserve it at all. Either he lost motivation after being picked for IPL or still has fitness issues.

Aaron needs high level games. Some people perform when they are given top quality oppositions.

I remember Sehwag playing absurd cricket and failing miserably in 2007 in Ranji that he wasn’t even in earlier announced 30 man probable squad to tour Australia for the 2007/08 tour. Howevver Kumble took him, surprising everyone as he wasn’t even part of 30 and then became part of 15. Did not play first 2 tests where Jaffer played, and then came into 3rd and rest is history. Even after failing miserably to poor bowlers in Ranji he found his game against best of the best.

I see Aaron needing that support in this time in his career. He is a fast bowler whose blood will rush and make him perform moment he wears Indian jersey and play for India.

Put Aaron with Bumrah together. Fast and furious duo. They are going to run havoc in international cricket together with that combined speed and venom. We need to make this happen.

Good point, re: Siraj. I know he's not a T20 bowler, and he was top VH trophy wkt taker few seasons ago, but i do wonder how good he is in one day matches compared to say Rajpoot

How are the two even comparable. Sehwag had a great record behind him, Aaron has been an outright failure internationally so far. He looked like getting some sting back and had started to swing the ball at pace. All seem to have gone away with time.

How many games has he played to be called outright failure?

Although it's evident that Pant needs to improve his keeping, I'd rather see someone play in the "A" tours who is not a regular in the Test squad, and I think Pant has a settled place in the team (for the near future). Ditto Mayank and Shaw. All of them need to work on their skill sets for sure, but I wish to see more back-up options for the future being tested. My "A" squad focusing on potential back-ups would be:

(1) Easwaran, (2) Panchal, (3) Gill, (4) P. Garg, (5) Kishan (?), (6) Rinku Singh, (7) Gopal, (8) Rahul Chahar, (9) Mavi/Rajpoot, (10) Avesh and (11) Aniket C/Tanvir ul-Haq (need to try lefties)

Remaining 5 include: (1) Aniket C/Tanvir ul-Haq, (2), Mavi/Rajpoot, (3) Gowtham, (4) J. Sidhu, (5) Saurabh Kumar/S. Dubey

I think this team has reasonably experienced openers for near-future, some young guns to be tried in middle-order (Garg, Gill, Sidhu) and a lower-middle-order specialist (Rinku). I omitted the likes of Nair and Bhui in favour of Sidhu & Garg - have seen 2-3 of their innings, and I think they have the beginnings of something special IMO.

In my book, leg-spin is the most important of the lot as far as spinners are concerned. Hence, I'd like to see both Gopal and Chahar get a shot - one is more of an all-rounder with domestic experience (Gopal), while the other has raw talent and potential (Chahar). India is sadly lacking in offies (apart from old warhorses Rasool & Saxena), so I've gone with Gowtham. Not seen enough of Saurabh Kumar, but we need a proper back-up for Jaddu - left-arm orthodox who can plug away, and score some useful runs. Dubey had a strong beginning, but fell off - however, I think he is better than Shankar as a bowler.

Pace options select themselves: Mavi, Rajpoot, Aniket. Siraj and Saini have already had their share of "A' tours exposure. Stuck Tanvir in the mix as well, since we need to try out lefties.

Back-up Keepers are definitely an issue: have not seen Wadkar (Vidarbha) and Upendra Yadav (UP) keep. They both have good batting records, but not sure how they are in terms of wk keeping. Bharat has gone on enough A tours - I think he is a safe-ish keeper, but his batting is not much to write home about. No idea about younger keepers like Anuj Rawat either.
