What are ur replacement for middle order junk

Recommended Posts

Raydu, Dhoni , Jadhav & Kartik in the current squad does not make the cut for modern brand of Odi Cricket

My replacement will be

Gill, Pant, krunal, Mayank

Rahul in the squad as back up opener is also my second wicket keeper if in a rare scenario he is needed..

Deepak Hooda, Pant. Gill, Shankar for me at present, it makes me sick that a sports body is acting in this self defeatist way, Dhoni being in the team last 4 years is suicidal and bringing the team down.

Dhawan

Rohit

Virat

Pant

Gill

Hooda

Mayank

Pandya

Shankar

Kuldeep

Krunal

Bumrah

Shami

Aaron

Aniket

Would be my ODI squad

Anyone showing ability, be it Gill, Shaw, Pant, Agarwal or someone else. I am against this typecasting as openers for the young lot. They need to grab whatever chance is available and show flexibility towards the teams needs and those that show the ability may move to the desired slot in the future. The best batsman like Sachin/Kohli will naturally command their desired position eventually and make the most of it. So let's discover the next big thing soon enough while Virat is in his prime.

rohit says '' MSD ideal at # 4 "

Probably, if ODI are 60 over each

sMG ( mumbai) scored 36 not out in 60 overs in eng vs eng .he said after the game " we know we will not win so I just carry my bat for 60 over"

I think Shreyas iyer still injured otherwise

He was close to selection for both aus and nz

We need batsman who can hit 4 and 6 more than just rotate the strike

Bcci and kohli do not wants change

That means if Jadeja,Jadhav,DK and Dhoni bats like test match we need to keep them unless they get suspended or

Injured.

Still do not know why pandey not makes it?

Any insight on anmolpreet singh, bit of a stats king (strike rate over 100 and average nearly 60) and only 20 but is/will he be any good?

Because pandey is crap and he is also a bootlicker to dhoni. Have you seen him bat lately. I know he has been deprived chances when he was good when he made century against Aussies but than he went downhill.

Shreyas Iyer has done really well this season .. Another guy who is among runs is Priyank panchal from Gujurat .. Baba Indrajith has been consistent over a few seasons now and deserves a chance but maybe after the WC

We have Nitish Rana who is good and was great in IPL too .. Shaw if he can slot in the middle order .. I do not know what is happening with Mandeep but he was a good talent.

Gill Pant and Krunal are already in contention

I would love to see an inform KL at 3 and Virat at 4 ... followed by Hardik, Dinesh, Krunal .

Following his IPL it was right that MSD got a few more ODIs  but the England series should have been the nail in his ODI career.

Prithvi Shaw is an opener, not a middle order batsman

I know that.  But the opener's slots won't open up in the next 3 or 4 years. Can't waste a talent like Shaw for  that long.

I think he has the game to do well in the middle order as well.

Mayank, Iyer, Gill, Pandey and Pant - these 5 have to be in the squad ahead of anyone else. Pandey purely on account of number of games he’s won for the A side.

4 bats are all great fielders and this group gives the whole team a young feeling instead of the 4 grandpas. Among the oldies only Jadhav can make the grade for his ability to roll his arm over.

With them, even if we lose, it takes the team forward.

Gill, Shaw, Jadhav, Iyer....i would back anyone of them to outperform Dhoni, Rayudu and DK in ODI format. Batsman who are good can bat anywhere.  Openers in particular would be able to adapt to middle order as well, especially of the quality of Shubman Gill and Shaw.

bhuvi's regression has been so complete that I'd rather see even someone like rasikh salam in the 16. I think your team looks great but the absence of a part-time bowler for the 6th bowler slot is very problematic. we will have to see VK bowl his filth. since shaw is a specialist opener, I would be more tempted to have jadhav instead of him, and re-jig the batting order - this way, we get a reliable 6th bowler. krunal pandya is another possibility, but his batting feats are not that impressive in List A.

Players I consider special among the young-uns

Gill

Shaw

Pant

Bumrah

Mavi

Avesh

Nagarkoti

Kuldeep

Only Avesh is missing from my ODI squad  ...  and I would love it if he is able to replace  Bhuvi by his List-A performances.

Rohit should be able to bowl 2 to 4 overs per match.

Kedar can play in WC 2019  ... but won't last till WC 2023.

Shaw is a special special talent.  We can't impede his progress because opening slots are booked for the time being.

when I brought up kedar, I was indeed referring to a short-term fix. I don't think rohit has bowled at all in the last many yrs (back issues or something). dhawan and VK are hopeless bowlers. if we look at distant future, I think rohit & dhawan can be replaced by gill & shaw - this will free up middle-order slots for others, and allow a proper 6th bowling option to be played.

How anybody can look at Rayudu and think he can be an international ODI batsmen is beyond me,the selectors messed up big time by penciling him for the WC.

Virat sounded so positive and confident about Rayudu at 4, as if he is some kind of proven great. Virat has to change his mindset first.

Just imagine the firepower if we have these 3 guys at  5,  6  and  7.

And Shaw averages  41 in List A too, which is only likely to go up.

Shaw opens in list A where he gets field restrictions. He is no pant or Pandya who can clear boundaries with field restrictions.

This XI is still doable for the WC..  Top 6 out of 7 are in the ODI squad already.. Get Pant in and drop junk Dhoni.

4 bowlers + Pandya + Shankar -> gives us the flexibility to even play 2 spinners

Top 5 are conventional bats + Pant, Pandya for firepower towards the end..

If TM is hellbent on sticking with DK, then play DK at 7 and Pandya at 6 with the same team above.. Think he'll still add value when he comes in with 5-10 overs left in the innings... But no Dhoni any more plzz.

Only 4 fielders are allowed outside the circle from the 11th to the 40th over.

There are significant gaps still available for prolific boundary hitters like Shaw.

I would like to try out Mayank also in middle order . Plays spin well , plays shots over the in field well to exploit gaps in 11-40over period .

Should be better than some of the guys tried .

Won't happen for sure but how about

Dhawan

Rohit

Shaw

Kohli

Gill

Pant

Pandya

Kuldeep

Shami

Bumrah

Chahal

Shaw to go in at 3 if an early wicket falls. If we get a decent opening partnership, Kohli goes in at 3. No tuk tuk merchants and TTFs in the top 7. Tail looks slightly long with Kuldeep at 8 but Bhuvi can no longer be our first choice pacer along side Bumrah.

I had the same side.. except I had Shankar for Shaw.. provides a sixth bowling option and middle order stability at 5... hopefully he comes good with the bat in Aus, NZ
