Chahar is still a potential prospect no?

Rahul Chahar, yes.  Not the other Chahar.

I don't mind seeing 10-12 slots from the possible 55, given to the top Ranji performers who don't really have what it takes for that next level.

They have chosen 23 different players In the 2 teams. (  cursory count )

At least 50% look like this category.  Too high IMHO.  Should not be more than 20% to  25%.

But the rest should go to the cream of the crop.

Not seeing Rajput, Mavi, mayank etc is disappointing.

Only 4 or max 5 look like exciting talent among the selected guys.

I just noticed Manish Pandey's name is missing?

Also playing Ranji Semis

Bawnes List A strike rate is 71

Rahane is not an ODI player

Nitesh Rana was good in the Emerging players tourno few weeks ago, and should be in this squad. Maybe Indrajith- had a good VH trophy last year and been in form for TN in FC cricket too. Surya Kumar would be another possibility, good limited overs player

How many of these selected players have a realistic chance of becoming a regular in ODIs in the near future  ?

How many of these players excite the selectors as future ODI prospects   ?

You know the s selection committee they ll keep recycling these trundler s like they did before. I mean what has Thakur, Kaul and Chahr has to showcase atleast Chahar has a beautiful sister what about the other 2?:giggle:

Some really strange selections. Our selectors can’t look beyond Kaul, Chahal, Thakur. Why not give a chance to Mavi, Rajpoot or even Aniket or even Varun Aaron?

Rahane being three suggests he is still the reserve batsman for WC.

Among the good choices -Anmolpreet,Avesh, Markande and Rahul Chahar. Hope the leggies get to play ahead of Jayant Yadav.

First opportunity for Rinku Singh and Priyam Garg in BPXI.

why is avesh only in for last 2 ODI?

why is Varun not considered at all?

where is Shivam Mavi and rajpoot?

the batsman except Shreyas iyer are the one's who play slow and may not be suitable for ODI.

all batsman can score big runs but the run rate they will maintain would not be good, hard hitters are missing.

too many trundlers are being considered.

Why not selected   ?

Mayank

Dubey

Tushar Deshpande

Rajpoot

Pant in first 3 matches.

Mavi

Why selected   ?

Deepak Chahar

Rahane

Bawne

lots of trundlers chosen. I like bawne, but he is a FC specialist, and has flattered to deceive in the few FC "A" matches he got. going to hahane again makes no sense either.

Kaul and Chahar have been sent back from the national team after they looked totally innocuous against international batsmen.

Don't know why the both of them are getting selected together.  There should not be more than 1 trundler in the team ... and that too if he is very highly skilled.

Add to this Shardul, who is a short fast-medium bowler.  This bowling attack is looking too similar in the first 3 matches.
