Pankaj Roy-high value for his era

Saha

Roy averaged 32 in tests. Given that era where India were a bad team and uncovered wickets , that average looks okay for those times. Nothing spectacular about it.

Saha is a average cricketer. He is not even a guaranteed selection, forget being a good international cricketer.

I never claimed they were spectacular or ATG, both were good.....you used the term 'good' and suggested Bengal cricket produced only crap.

Saha was good for state but not for Team India.

Well , Bengal contribution to Indian international cricket has been very poor, and I still hold that opinion.

I guess Bengal has won Ranji trophy just twice and that shows the lack of quality in the team.

Saha was one of the greatest pure keepers the sport has seen and an integral part of our rise to top spot. Not good for India you say !!!!

Bengal cricket has been underwhelming but no need to throw insults. Many states have done poorly in Ranji Trophy, worse in fact. That Bengal has made 13 finals appearances shows we have some quality at the domestic level.

Leaving it now, don't want to digress.

No team can afford pure wicket keeper. His keeping was very good, but he wasn't flawless. He too has dropped catches like other keepers, although he did not drop as many as others did. His fitness is also an issue as he gets injured and he misses months while recovery.

One thing i have noticed with Pandya is learning.

Till last year he didnt used to swing/seam the ball that much but since Africa tour he has been consistently getting movement.

In England in some spells he was getting more movement that our specialist fast bowlers.

Watch his debut spell against NZ in ODI.

Most days he gets old ball and also he has gotten more consistent with fuller lengths to . A player gets better with time only and he is
