Should India experiment in T20?

We have been experimenting but only in bowling unit. Batsmen more or less have been fixed Rohit, Dhawan, Dhoni , Kohli (when not resting), Pandey, Raina, Rahul in last 2 years and Yuvraj earlier.

Find it incredible that Dhoni is the only player from 2007 WC (and Malik) to be still playing T20s. This is after repeated failures in every single T20 WC.

Two best Indian batsmen of last IPL - Pant and Rahul will not be playing T20s!

Anyways from the current squad, you are right give the three oldiesmaximum chance to bat.

Raydu

Dhawan

Dhoni

DK

Rohit

Jadhav

H. Pandya

Bhuvi

Chahal

Kuldeep

Kaul

Now that it is a given Rayudu, Jadhav, KKD won't go away, should India give more responsibility to these bozos to bat for longer period. I know T20 is a short game. But for KKD even T20 is like a test match lol. Open with KKD and Rayudu. Gill at 3. Jadhav at 4.

experimentation shud make sense also , KKD as opener makes no sense ....let him do what he is best at

If rayudu is struggling in middle overs imagine him against new cherry

Somehow i feel KKD should be given more responsibility of playing right through the innings. There might be instances where he may need to bat all the way till the end.

He had those and didnt converted it so many times, its very clear he is best for small innings and best not to expect bigger innings from him

If experimentation has to be don make gill open n rohit at 3.

:(( Rohit will be aiming for another T20 century.  Frankly it is pointless to play them.

Any player who plays for Indian T20 team will make more money in IPL - Not only do they get chances to stat-pad in T20I, but even just by being in the team/squad - their IPL market value soars.  That is why we are seeing the likes of Dhawan etc cling to T20 spots, and the team management uses those slots as "reward" for being a good team guy - Rahane survived in T20I for the longest because he was a key test batsman and wasn't getting a ODI spot.

This kind of "behind the scenes" logic is a bit obvious once you understand what's going on...

Pant is there in the T20I squad.

Or you meant to say he won't be picked in the playing XI ?

Knowing this TM, it's quite possible he won't be in the playing XI, as he is the among the top 3 or 4 players in the world with the highest SR ever in all T20 cricket.

120 SR consolidation and solidity in the middle order is our game. 35 average with 163 SR is too risky.

Why are we playing so many international T20s before the 50 over WC? 3 T20s in Oz/NZ each and 2 against Oz at home....rubbish scheduling. We could have fit in 4-5 extra ODIs in the place of T20s which would have been handy to try out some other middle order combinations. Now fully expect the BCCI to compensate by scheduling only tests and ODIs before the next 2 WT20s.

They work against common sense and logic every *ing time, play in Hyderabad/Rajkot in peak summer, Mumbai during SW Monsoon, Chennai during NE monsoon, Dharamsala during peak winter, Delhi a day after Diwali......scheduling tests/ODIs/T20s/IPL in a way to screw our chances of achieving something worthwhile. How can the richest and most powerful board be so inept?

You know the saying Gollum , Practise makes perfect and they have  been perfecting for a long time .

Too many cooks spoils the broth is another saying that sums up the BCCI

@Gollum

Everybody wants to milk the golden goose that is the Indian cricket team. Host country  decides most of the scheduling choices....

Rayudu as opener is still fine, he does that for his IPL team too. But with Dhawan already in place, no point opening with DK. They should play him at 4 or 5.
