gakgupta
How long before we have a "Pant is a fantastic batsman" thread That never happen as indian fans are very demanding... Poor 20 year kid trying to find his feet in the intl level and already seen these kind of threads. Even great MSD took 11 games before making the first century...20 odd one dayers before settled as finisher. Pant took sometime to settle in the test matches . He will certainly take 10 to 15 games before he start contributing in odi's as well. Sent from my Lenovo A7020a48 using Tapatalk beetle and SrinjayDutta 1 1 Link to comment
Gollum
Both KLR and Pant have been short-changed in the run up to WC. When Rahul was in form (2017, 1st half of 2018) he hardly got a look in, never more than 3 consecutive matches, same with Pant. Is this how TM wants to groom the next gen? All this to give the 38 yr oldie a free run and ensure he gets to play another WC! beetle and Gollum 2 Link to comment

Don't know what you think. Many international cricketers come and retire averaging decent for their country without looking class. Every player plays LOI differently. Pant has enough shots to succeed. Its about temperament and as the famous term which maniac likes to use "match awareness", those things can only come if you play regularly. Anyone who scores 100+ against top England bowling attack on day 5, albeit a different format, knows a thing or two about batting and has decent range of shots, with Manhattan showing shots all around the park where English bowlers having tried everything - from bowling short to bowling full and also outside off. He improved in Test because he got the game time. If same is done in ODI'S he can improve there too. Mosher 1 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Pant's problem is strike rotation. We saw that in Tests as well. Lyon had every fielder on the fence. Pant had acres of space infront of him pinch singles. He just couldn't do it. In one dayers it will be even more exposed. There is another dimension he has to develop. Real McCoy 1 Link to comment

I have more faith in Ishan Kishan as a dhoni replacement. Link to comment
jf1gp_1
Awareness will come with experience. He at the very least needs another 15 -20 games and will improve. Cricketics, Adi BB, beetle and 1 other 1 3 Link to comment

You know how you guys axed or sidelined Tony Romo, similarly if that was done earlier in Indian team with Thala for at least any format be it t20, then Pant would be already a much settled LOI player. SK_IH
Having watched both Pant and Hetmyer recently, I have to say I was wrong regarding both being similar. Pant may have potential but Hetmyer looks far more explosive at the moment. velu 1 Link to comment
