Once you set a precedent the bar too is set. 5 years ago I never imagined Yogi would be a CM, today it is normal and no one will bat an eyelid if a Mahant or Imam becomes CM. Similarly a precedent has been set by fielding Sadhvi Pragya as a LS candidate, this opens a Pandora's box which isn't good for the country. Tomorrow all parties will be well within their rights to field terror accused candidates and no one can logically refute that because precedent has been set. This isn't good for Indian democracy.

We have LS candidates from the Bharat Tere Tukde Honge gang. We have candidates from mainstream parties who make fun and abuse Lord Ram. So that is acceptable even when it isn’t good for Indian democracy.

This high morale ground is big BS and this pandora box tactic is just used to emotionally blackmail Hindus.

Don't like them but those crimes aren't as bad as terrorism. I ask again, would you be ok with an alleged Kashmiri terrorist sitting as MP in Indian Parliament? Until Sadhvi clears her name she has that same status.

This is a worrying development, if some Hindus believe this is an emotional blackmail fault lies with them. Sending such people to Parliament is not normal by any stretch of imagination.

Wish BJP focuses more on development agenda, the Hindutva card is being overplayed. This is an aspirational nation with a huge underachieving young population, besides they came to power in 2014 largely on the promise of development.  Frankly bored of this religion/caste nonsense day in and day out, because of the state of the nation/national politics such discussion is inevitable but can't be 24x7 business. BJP has made many improvements on the ground the last 5 years, developed ideas, implemented schemes/policies etc...why not focus on the good work?

Yet BJP are the only major party which has development agenda, and a vision for India. They are only party seeking votes on their work delivered & done in last 5 years. While the opposition has no report card, and just seeking votes by fear mongering.

But they alone cant win elections especially when one entire minority group votes on communal lines. Thus, identity politics is part of the system and BJP has to play it.

There is no good crimes or bad crimes. They are all crimes. Its pointless to run away from reality. We have convicted criminals getting big votes and being elected. Its nothing new and its part of democracy.

Identity politics is very important but they also have to win an election, so development agenda too should be there. 2014 was won largely because of development promises. At the moment BJP is playing the Hindutva card excessively, there should be a balance. Hindutvawadis will anyway vote for NDA, but what about the undecided voters, particularly in the 20-40 age group? And their new tactic may not work in states where they depend on their allies, think about voters in TN, NE etc.

Don't think BJP lost by playing centrist. anti-incumbency was high against sitting MLAs after 15 years.

Digvijay Singh today is as irrelevant as it can get. Why give him unnecessary fodder.

Moreover there are cases running against her if anything gets proven it will be a serious loss of face for rational nationalists who support BJP.

However BJP probably knows better than us. To get the RSS cadres moving in the state, they might have done this or for some other reasons we can't see.

Exactly. this bolded. There is a strategy here 3 weeks before elections, we should not look at from the tarazu of rationality. This seems to be a good bag for BJP.

As a BJP supporter I am disgusted by the choice of candidate in Bhopal, I hate Diggy Piggy but the city deserves better.

There will be complete polarisation (at least that's what the BJP is hoping) and consolidation of hindu votes will benefit BJP in a city like bhopal. Not a bad gamble at all considering the narrative
