However, after the confirmation of his injury, Shubman Gill was picked instead. Gill failed to make a mark in his first two ODIs. Link to comment
tweaker
Ashish Nehra wants Rishabh Pant in India's squad for the world cup He pointed out that India needs more left-handers for variation purposes. He went on to elevate Pant in the league of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Mosher and Ankit_sharma03 2 Link to comment

bowl_out
Practically speaking - they would want to give as much match time as possible to Dhawan, Rayudu, Jadhav, Shankar One experiment worth trying is open with Pant through the T20 and ODI series.. and rest Rohit.. maybe even rest Dhawan in T20s and open with Rahul or Karthik. Fourth quick slot is still open.. I doubt they'll go with a new fast bowler like Saini or Rajpoot, although that would be the preferred approach. But knowing our selectors, they could try Umesh or Thakur... Seriously hope they don't go back to the joker Unadcutter flamy 1 Link to comment
express bowling
The 4th pacer, if any in the squad, should be picked based on his ability. A left armer should not get a free ride just because he is a left armer. Mosher 1 Link to comment

A left armer should not get a free ride just because he is a left armer. Unadkat, who has only sporadically played for India since his debut in 2010, is suddenly back in contention after a good Ranji Trophy season where he led Saurashtra to the final. Unadkat is a matured bowler now with more variations and an increase in pace. He is also more experienced courtesy his IPL stints. https://www.hindustantimes.com/cricket/india-vs-australia-choice-between-khaleel-ahmed-and-jaydev-unadkat-for-odis/story-67oXq9keej7O4H5ZSKffZO.html FFS hope the 4th pacer is not Unadcutter. Selectors are *ing dumb if they pick Unadkat based on his Ranji performances. Saini/Rajpoot need to be given chances instead of recycling tried and tested spinners. The selection committee has selected some new players, by their performance in India A matches ie pant, Shankar, Mayank, Siraj. By this criteria Navdeep , Rajput should be front runner for the fourth fast bowlers role Link to comment
