Umesh takes wickets, Bhuvi only saves runs

Recommended Posts

Argument frequently cited, Bhuvi despite not conceding runs gives away more runs by not taking wickets but Umesh saves runs by taking wickets, despite leaking runs. Well congratulations, the merits of this theory was on its best display today. Bhuvi would have no doubt finished the job today.

Umesh in T20s is a big no. Usually those who accuse bhuvi are sensible enough to know Umesh is not a t20 bowler. And in any case how does Umesh's failure make bhuvi a better option. The point of criticizing bhuvi is to find another option whonis better than mediocre bhuvi. Now that just don't have to be only Umesh who is actually not even someone who hasn't been tried before.

Posters here don't understand the simple thing, that Bumrah is a light years ahead than any other fast bowler in India atm. If Umesh Yadav, is brainless, then he is among the 99.9% of Indian fast bowlers, who are brainless too.

And tell me one Indian fast bowler, who could have made any difference. Khaleel Ahmed? Sid kaul? Shardul Thanks? Or Deepak chahar? May be shami but even he is not a good T20 bowler. So how selectors are culprit?

Don't think anyone dislikes BK in T20s, it is ODIs where he is questioned. Likewise, noone really wants Umya in the limited over sides. Umesh outside of WC 2015 and IPL has been a mediocre bowler in limited overs. BK is a good bowler in T20s IPL or international b/c he can bowl all his overs at the opening and at the death, both places where he is among the better bowlers in that regard.

The stats mostly bear out what is in the title regarding the two as ODI bowlers. Umesh takes wickets at a good rate, but is a very expensive bowler. Yesterday was par for the course.

BK does not take wickets in ODIs at even an avg level. The question is if BK really even saves runs in ODIs? I think he saves runs in the death b/c he has a very good knuckle ball and yorkers, but taking wickets also lowers the opponents RR, which he doesn't do. Teams can easily milk his overs easily for 5+ runs in the middle overs with no threat of wicket loss. Then their batsmen are set --> high score for the other team.

TL;DR Neither is good in ODIs, BK is good in T20s, our WC attack should be Bumrah+Shami

I agree Bhuvi for sure is 2nd best t20 bowler we have got at the moment. In odis however there should be no doubt that shami has to play ahead of him.
