zen
For those who do not understand the game: a) Pak PM talks peace, Pak Army attacks Ind took bus to Lahore, Kargil happened Abhinandan is being returned, LoC firing and shelling are kept alive killing both soldiers and civilians b) Major operations are usually carried out when an event is happening in subcon When Bill Clinton was visiting Ind, tons of Sikhs were massacred in J&K area Pullawa attack was carried when Saudi Crown Prince was scheduled to visit Pak Results Point a) confuses the enemy, at times creating internal conflicts and indecision. Many believe that if Pak is extending an olive branch, we should reciprocate too. But then our citizens gets killed. Over the years, 1000s of Indians have been killed or left homeless. Whether going on pilgrimage, by random terrorist attacks, through shelling at IB and LoC, or even killed or forced to vacate by the people they know (Pandits had to leave Kashmir) Point b) gives Pak the excuse -> Why would we want to do it when we are trying to do this or that Why talks are not possible? Or why the idea of talks is a smoke screen? a) Pak's goal is to take entire J&K. It ignores various agreements and tries to discuss "julm" on Kashmiris, which is not their problem. Pak wants plebiscite in Kashmir, hoping that the majority of Muslim population in Kashmir Valley will vote to join Pakistan. While Pak has conditioned those in PoK. I believe that Kashmir's freedom is not on Pak's agenda. The precondition for plebiscite was that Pakistan remove all Pakistanis from PoK, however, it has only settled Pakistanis in the area. To help get favorable result in J&K, non-Muslim population was targeted too b) Ind's goal is to reintegrate all Kashmir. PoK consists of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. However, such moves are not achieved through talks c) J&K is diverse. The problem area is Kashmir Valley where approx. half of its population resides Why can't the two countries live peacefully? Ind did try to create an agreement where the LoC could be turned in to an IB. Kashmiris from both sides would have the freedom to cross the border in Kashmir. However, it did not gain traction To maintain its influence in Pak, the army feels the need to show Ind as a threat that will destroy Pak. To show Ind as a threat, it needs issue like Kashmir. Therefore, even if Pak gets Kashmir, there is no guarantee that it will bring peace, esp. when many in Pak and Kashmir Valley dream of pursuing Ghazwa-e-Hind More points are here https://711am.wordpress.com/2014/10/29/kashmir-a-land-that-should-never-have-been-a-problem/ Is war the only answer? In a perfect world, it should not be. Ind believes that if terrorism is eliminated, it can focus on rebuilding Kashmir and the Valley, which will help the Kashmiris from the Valley reintegrate with rest of India. However, terrorism is like a symptom of a disease. It would be like trying to cure fever when you are suffering from a disease. As long as there is external support, many in Kashmir Valley will ask for freedom from Ind and use violent means. This is where Ind's policy has faltered. In trying to curb terrorism, it has created relatively more animosity in the Valley Pak will not stop supporting Kashmir due to reasons outlined in many of the above points If Pak (or India) somehow fragments, Kashmir becomes a non-issue for the fragmented region. India is hoping that Pak fragments, while Pak is trying to see that Ind fragments With no other major viable options, can a limited war help? It can if we define the scope and scale adequately. If limited to Kashmir Valley and LoC, a) we can control the Kashmir Valley more, reducing the role of the miscreants, who some refer to as Pak Puppets, with "peace" becoming an option to consider for many of those with separatist and fight till we die attitude, b) Pak will now have to focus on defending its territories too (vs. just using low cost tactic of putting helpless folks against Ind), c) gains made by Ind in PoK will bring more support for Ind in PoK where people want to be liberated from Pak too. Separatist in Kashmir Valley will stop seeing Pak as a savior (because Pak itself is trying to save its own you know what) Over and Out Edited March 1, 2019 by zen Straight Drive, Norman, DHONI_FANN and 4 others 1
Captain
When it comes to Pakistan, Indians must follow the motto "A dog’s Tail can never be straightened". The sooner our people realize this the better it'll be for us as a nation. zen, sergio04, Gollum and 1 other 1
zen
For Pak, it is business as usual now. LoC is hot. People continue to die on both sides of LoC .... We need to escalate to the next level in Kashmir Valley For those who want info on escalation stages: At the base, you could put unconventional such as use of terrorists by Pak Below conventional war and above low-intensity conflict, you could put limited war, which is also fought conventionally Pak is using unconventional tactics, while threatening Ind with nuclear as it does not have the relative strength to compete with India in the middle stages .... The pre-emptive strikes can be put as low-intensity conflict .... We need to move to limited war in Kashmir Valley Edited March 1, 2019 by zen sergio04
