Let's keep track of number of dot balls wasted by Rohit Sharma in each innings.

Just to give overall view about the mindset of our openers,

They played 35 dot balls inside the first power play in this match. That amounts to almost 6 overs and not a single run was scored.

Opening partnership of 193 in 31 overs, RR of 6.2.

58/0 after 10

92/0 after 15

114/0 after 20

148/0 after 25

182/0 after 30

Yes thee were to many dot balls played at the start but nothing wrong with it as long a batsman makes up for that which Rohit did.

Must have been frustrating to see Rahul fail again OP but do not take that frustration out on Rohit.

How many times has this approach worked against quality attacks? Haven't we already seen the number of times he humiliated himself with this approach and negatively impacting the team.

Nothing to get frustrated over as I don't usually waste my time watching Rohit Sharma bat.

Despite all those dot balls, As long as score is not more than double what we score at end of 30 overs, Those dot balls tracker is meaningless.

Even in last match, We didnt outscore what we scored in 30 overs. The actual score at end of 30 was 182. India should have scored atleast 364.

Now compare that to Aussies. They were 177/2 at end of 30 overs. And they easily doubled it in next 18 overs

Blame lies to the bats who batted in last 20 overs. We are unable to make most of last 20 overs

Openers not big problem, lack of modern day ultra high SR (200 plus) in late order.

Someone who can give 70-80 off 35 balls late order boost

India doesn't have a Maxwell, Miller, Butler, Grandehomme, even Thisara :hehe: type players

Too often Panyda is missing out these key practice games due to injury especially on flat tracks, Pant needs more game time, Shankar maybe has potential

Exactly. Not sure when some will realize India has the worst late order power hitting. Even Afghanistan Nabi, Rashid khan can produce more impact down the order than these guys.   There is no Yuvi or Raina or Old Dhoni to accelerate in death. Pandya is our savior who misses half the matches, also doesn't accelerate against seamers like say a Russell, Grandhomme etc. Indian top order  are required to perform build the innings all the way upto the end and accelerate as well. Even SHankar is technically not suited to accelerate at the death. He is better served in the middle overs. Even if India is 260/3 at 40th over they will collapse and produce an under par score like we saw against Hongkong.

Of all problems we want to hit on a guy who scored 90+ at 97 s/r...:hitler:

It was just a bad day in office. Some hard luck .. team is shaping well. All we need is pant and kl to come into form and we would be favorites . The players we have right now sans rayudu are the best that we have ...

Currently India have no capability to score 120 plus from 40th to 50th over, unless Rohit is at crease

Thats the thing with every set batsmen . I have seen Tendulkar / Ganguly along with even Dravid get to 350+ in 2000s . None of these guys where big hitters . Batsmen get into zone after having played 100+ balls , even Dhawan was hitting sixes for fun after his 100

Let’s not also forget that lower down batsmen are trying to hit both good and bad balls, which is relatively difficult

Maybe that is the reason we lost. But Sharma's dot ball percentage is on a different range.

You sound like 375 would have been defendable lol They finished 14 balls to spare.. ya right 375 was defendable. You are barking at the wrong tree. Have you looked at Turner's career record? It is average. Even when Rohit left at 193 after 31st over India somehow managed to lose 9 wickets. Rahul poked around. Kohli rarely failed. Pant hacked for a while against spinners. Once Cummins was on he was out. Shankar is not a natural hitter. Jadhav can't accelerate against pace. They were wasting atleast 2 or 3 overs in the end. Atleast Shankar made up for it somewhat. Our middle order is not capable  of building an innings at an acceptable rate. Kohli is not a big hitter. Only six hitter in the entire side against pacers are Rohit sharma.
