Caution Advisory:We lost with a full strength team

We played this series with our frontline bowling attack and batting.

Our top 3

Rayudu was a guaranteed starter at 4 prior to the series.

Chahal not playing all games was nothing to do with rotation, it was to accommodate a longer batting.

Pandya was the only guy missing from the starting line up but Shankar more than made up for it. Won a game with the ball and played Pandya type cameos

So Apart from Dhoni missing out the last 2 games we played with our full strength team that would start in the WC.

And many felt Pant is an upgrade anyways

So we lost with our main team to a 2nd string Aussie side at home in both games that were batting friendly and bowling friendly which was our strength anyways.

We could have been blanked 5-0 and got blanked in T20 series

MSK, Kohli etc have said IPL will not make a difference in adding or removing any player.

Not good signs.

Heads need to roll.

Team building since the last major odi tournament - the champions trophy - has been very poor. If anything the current team looks worse than the one in 2017.

One dimensional openers

Wafer thin middle order

No big hitters in lower order

Long tail

Inconsistent bowling

Under Kohli the Ind team has morphed into RCB lite and together with the choking at any big or pressure moment.

Ok I am expecting a barrage of troll votes   from both Dhoni and anti-Dhoni brigade but

Dhoni is useless in the modern game as a bat, however he is not without his usefulness as a better keeper among DK and Pant and also better cricket acumen than Kohli in LOIs and can hold one end in a collapse

on Pant and Dk they have their usefulness too with Pant’s modern approach and DK’s usefulness in the final 4-5 overs however their fielding is suspect and we can’t afford their short attention span in an already fragile middleorder and useless tail.

At this point pains me to say, Dhoni it is :((

Our top 3, Bumrah and KulCha have been phenomenal for the last 18-20 months. They were bound to have a series or two where they go off track. Unfortunately it happened to five of them bar Kohli in the same. We failed to take wickets with new ball, spinners could not choke opposition during middle orders and Aussies were far better tactically outplaying us thoroughly.

We are still reaching the semis of the WC and from there on, it is about two good days.

Onto the IPL now
