Best tonking in IPL 2019 - 22+ runs overs only.

Recommended Posts

(1) KKR versus K11P at Eden Gardens.

Excellent tonking by Narine. Wonderful stroke play.  See it, hit it. Simple and effective tonking that. Loved it a lot.

25 runs were tonked off Varun Chakravarty's first IPL over. Narine scored 24. Lynn scored 1 run.

6 4 4 2 4 4 .  All 24 runs scored by Samson in Bhuvi's 3rd over. That was some brilliant strokeplay. Well played lad.

Everything on the offside. Just brilliant batting. Not one hack shot. Not one fancy shot.

Why 22? Is it because the number has 2 2s?

Why not 15 or 20? or 16 (4 4s) or 18 (3 6s)?

15 are scored frequently and it's nothing great tonking 15 runs in T20.

22 plus overs are tough to score even in this format.

So would be 21 or 23 runs over. Want to know what is the calculation behind number 22? :dontknow:

I did similar thread during IPL last year. There were lot of 20 and 21 runs overs. Browsing through commentary and recording all these overs was also tough. I observed 22 runs is not easy to score though and hence there are lesser instances of that.

(7) RCB vs KKR

Andre Russell mauls Southee , 29

1 6 6 6 4 6

https://www.cricbuzz.com/live-cricket-full-commentary/22412/rcb-vs-kkr-17th-match-indian-premier-league-2019

18.6

Southee to A Russell, SIX, 29 off the over! Russell has killed the game. RCB are dead and buried with this onslaught. In the slot from Southee, doesn't miss the yorker by much but that's enough for Russell who blasts it over long-off for another six. Scores level!

18.5

Southee to A Russell, FOUR, more runs! He can do no wrong! Short ball this time, Russell waits for it and ramps merrily over Parthiv. Races away to the fence in no time

18.4

Southee to A Russell, SIX, he's gone nuts, he's gone absolutely nuts here Dre Russ! Southee misses the yorker from round the wicket, it's a low full toss and it's dumped over wide long-on. Flat maximum. It's a storm out here

18.3

Southee to A Russell, SIX, just over the third man fence! Raining sixes now. Short and wide this, third man is up and Russell goes for the upper cut. Got more height on it actually and Chahal from deep backward point fancied a running catch. Not to be

18.2

Southee to A Russell, SIX, swings it into the stands! The carnage continues. In the slot for Russell who shovels it over deep mid-wicket. Clobbered deep into the crowd. Pressure on RCB

This is the ultimate battle in this game - Southee vs Russell. The crowd is behind the Kiwi. Let's see what's in store.

18.1

Southee to Shubman Gill, 1 run, slower ball and Gill waits for it, slaps it down to long-on. Does the right thing, gives the strike back to Dre Russ

I doubt anyone will surpass this brutal game changing hitting in IPL as it happened in this one over. Only Russell can probably set new standards yet again by game changing 6×6 in a situation which demands high required find r.ate to win.

Behrendorff  - 23 runs .. Rahul 1 of 1 , Gayle 22 of 5

4.6
6
Behrendorff to Gayle, SIX runs, easy little pick-up. Too easy for Gayle. Offcutter, full and just outside off. He's picked it and he's brought that bat in a straight path from under it to casually pick up six over the straight boundary
4.5
4
Behrendorff to Gayle, FOUR runs, over the off side. Slower ball, dropped short of a length and wide outside off. Adjusts after being beaten off the pitch. Slices it over point and gets it into the boundary padding on the bounce
4.4
0
Behrendorff to Gayle, no run, slower ball at a length on middle stump, backs away and taps into the off side on the rise
4.3
6
Behrendorff to Gayle, SIX runs, and now to long-on's left! Length at off stump, feet out of the way, lot of swinging room and swing he does - off the inside half with the slog
4.2
6
Behrendorff to Gayle, SIX runs, clears the straight boundary with some force! Length ball in the corridor, front foot into the leg side and drilled flat over to long-on's right
4.1
1
Behrendorff to Rahul, 1 run, length on leg stump, flicked to deep square's left

Kkr vs rcb eden gardens what a game. Russel and Rana lit it up but fell short. Kohli and Moeen were awesome in setting the score. Saini came out unscathed in all this. Fine game for Indians all around.

our worst possible loss could be kuldeep :((

thought he is our ace vs sena teams

Not anymore. He has to work hard to get that confidence back. BCCI could have rested its key players for WC. But it's greed for money has sacrificed India's chances at the WC.

Indian Fans are oblivious to the fact that IPL has hurt India's chances at ICC events and Test matches for close to a decade now.

What's worse is we're giving A-grade exposure to Indian pitches/conditions and bowlers to foreign batsmen and they improve their game and they finally give it back with interest against India in ICC events. You just look at the long list of overseas players who have made their bones in the IPL.

not really, India's record at home is still laudable and that is despite overexposing Ind conditions to overseas players, Ind generally perform well in ICC events since 2011

India's struggles away from home has nothing to with IPL

The worst thing is our Indian captain rejoicing at seeing kuldeep getting tonked and he's offering googly secrets to a player from a #1 ranked team. :yousuck:

Asshole, you better hope that this doesn't comeback to bite you in the ass at WC.

We haven't won a single T20 WC since IPL Started. West Indies have won it twice and they could have done it a 3rd time if rain didn't spoil it in 2014. And Most west indies players play IPL generally very well. It's all there to see for oneself. Even I'm considering the west Indies as firm favorites for the T20 WC next year.

I'm not talking about home test record here. We do decently than most teams at ICC events but not win them as much as we could hope for.

Indian batting struggles away from home are there for everyone to see. Most of the players play IPL and they have no patience for the long game. Even Pujara is enamored by the big bucks IPL offers and keeps giving interviews that he likes to play shorter formats.

You are purely talking about skills here and Windes players have better skills in T20 cricket than any other country and they globe trot to hone their skills, its not as if only IPL gives them a chance to become better players.

Yes. Eng are firm favorites but Ind definitely has a chance. But if Ind didnt win I will not blame IPL for that.
