Austin 3:!6
Rahul after multiple oppurtunities, still not finding his feet. Not sure what has happened to him but he is woefully out of form. He is also struggling to score runs in IPL. Though Shaw has not set IPL on fire either but anyone watched him bat will concur that he looked much more assured in the last 2 games playing for Delhi Capitals. With Rohit/Dhawan already strugging, shall we pick another out of form opener in the shape of Rahul or pick Prithvi Shaw in the world cup who has got good record in Eng playing for India A. Discuss. Austin 3:!6
Neither.Who then? Must have a back up opener. Don't see Rohit-Dhawan lasting whole tournament.Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk Link to comment

Risky to go in such a long and crucial tournament without a back up opener. Also, looking at Rohit-Dhawan's form, don't think both will make the playing XI by mid tournament. zen
Don’t need to play slow and struggling Rohit and Dhawan unless they show good form. Dhawan though has a great ICC record Options include Pant, Agarwal, Shaw, etc., Link to comment
flamy
Nitish Rana He can bat at opening, or at #4. He also fits the bill for being absolutely off-radar, and to be a surprise weaponz. Of course, need to to wait to see if he can consistently surprise us for the rest of the IPL. Maybe, there are other surprises waiting jusarrived and DHONI_FANN 2 Link to comment

Nonbeliever
Dhawan is declining rapidly. Rohit will score cheap runs against mediocre teams. India should not rely on them if they want to win the world cup. But they will. Mayank looks a good option. Link to comment

Suhaan
Mayank Aggarwal is the most apt name He has the hunger and im sure once he gets an opportunity even in Wc he will grab it with his both hands Problem is both our operners are declining simultaneously speedheat, putrevus, DHONI_FANN and 1 other 1 3 Link to comment
Khota
Rahul between the two choices. Still disappointed with him though. Suhaan 1 Link to comment

prasen82
Leave apart Kohli there is no batsman in Indian ODI . I would rather have them take a gamble like 1992 pak team by going in with Young folks. Pant, Gill ,Mayank and VS should be in squad . KL is mentally shot now. No point hoping him to come back to form . Suhaan 1 Link to comment

He has the best balance. ABility to play long. Also ability to play positively without taking too much risks. flamy and Suhaan 2 Link to comment

They are in their 30s and rapidly declining, especially Rohit. We should have groomed an opener long time back but I blame lack of vision from Kohli/Team mgmt. With our fragile middle order, its imperative to have the openers firing. Our batting actually looking very weak (suddenly) and its all Kohli or nothing. Selectors need to swallow their ego and send few promising young batsmen for the world cup. Else, forget reaching semi finals. Suhaan 1 Link to comment
