The problem is the 27 crores for two players who are not worth anywhere near that amount.

Look at Narine and Russell. 15 core for both who have out performed Kohli and ABD. Gayle to has been giving wonderful performances for most years inspite of earning lesser relatively. Even Rashid Khan is doing wonders for less than 10 crores. Many other examples.

Narine & Russell ... purse deduction is 21 Crore not 15 Crore, even though they are paid 15 Crore.

Quote

If a franchisee opts to retain three players pre-auction, it will cost them a total of INR 15, 11 and 7 Crores (INR 33 Crores) respectively for the trio. A retention of only two players would cost them INR 12.5 and 8.5 (INR 21 Crores) respectively. If they opt to retain just the one player, then they'll have to suffer a deduction of INR 12.5 Crores from their auction purse.

Retaining 3 players for a total of 33 Crore is fine. CSK and MI did that.

RCB's 4 most important players were Virat, AB, Rahul and Chahal (Gayle was out of form and unfit around that time). RCB should have retained Virat, AB and Rahul. And get Chahal on right-to-match (which they did). Why did Virat make RCB pay 17 Cr. which was 2 Cr. more than required by the retention policy? Ego. Just to be the highest paid player in IPL.

Virat's earnings have been 100 Crore plus per year for many years now. A few extra crores in IPL is very little in his overall earnings. The smarter thing to do would have been to either stick to retention policies, or even take a little cut from salary if that is what was required to retain Rahul/Chahal. A title win or good showing in IPL or even public perception that Virat would do anything for his team is worth much more (even financially) than those extra couple of crores in salary or the tag of highest paid IPL player.

This I agree.. If RCB release Kohli next year, he may not get bid for more than 15cr

Even Kohli's buddy, Nehra too is one of the highest paid coaches. Wonder how RCB mgmt calculates the return on investment

Rcb management recently took over USL. They have bigger issues to look into currently but will sooner or later check this

Hard to win 8 games in a row. However, this means that every game is like a final of them. So guys like Kohli and Chahal, along with Saini if included in the squad, will become battle hardened going into the WC

They will also go with a devil may care attitude. They could be gatecrashers to midlevel teams as we saw in both matches today

Wait I thought IPL is held in the super 6 format. They won’t finish last and  will end up in top 6. Didn’t realize that meant they won’t quakify for knockouts :((

Thanks Babaji, job completed. Please move to Rajasthan Royals next to finish their chances.

Our idea of time and space is limited. Baba's view point is much broader. What Baba says can come to fruition this year, the next, or even after our life times. Lastly and most importantly, dont forget the dot!
