zen
Don't think so. If we have to go by results, Dhoni was there when Ind lost the series vs Aus in India. While after Kohli left, India drew 1-1 with NZ in ODIs from 3-0 to 4-1, and lost T20 series express bowling 1 Link to comment

SK_IH
I dont remember where I watched it but there was a panel discussion wherein it was rightly pointed out he has a plan A when he goes out at start and he sticks to it. Once the opposition destroys his plan A. he has nowhere to hide. Case in point is look at Dhoni/Rohit defend a score in this IPL vis-a-vis Kohli, chalk n cheese. Link to comment

Zero_Unit
Honestly speaking, as much as we don't want dhoni in the squad, without him we have no chance of lifting the cup this year. Virat is a champion player but is a moron when it comes to captaincy. Dhoni might be out of his league at this point of his career in the national team but that captaincy brain of his is still top notch. All in all, we need him just for his backend captaincy. vvvslaxman
Kohl basically expects players to have a perfect game. When that doesn’t happen he becomes clueless. Link to comment

Dhoni, especially during the 2nd half of his captaincy, has been a good captain when he can control the game by using spinners and medium pacers on slower tracks. But his captaincy does not look that good when tracks are faster and genuine pacers have to be used. There is a reason why he had to quit ODI captaincy too ... because he was not performing that well. We will not have Dhoni, the captain of 2008 to 2011 period, nowadays. Link to comment

Also becoz we didnt have that quality in the attack which we have now which dented his belief on those bowler which never improved . 43 minutes ago, express bowling said: There is a reason why he had to quit ODI captaincy too ... because he was not performing that well. Like every captain his captaincy shelv life ended and more importantly i felt he wasnt enjoying . He is enjoying CSK's captaincy hence doing well Link to comment

With him also their is no chance. He can give advise to kohli but at the end its kohli who will choose what to do .... Dhoni cant change kohli's body language that affects the team in bad times. Ankit_sharma03
Another Psychological problem i feel with this scenario is Kohli idolizes dhoni hence wen they are in Same team he looks to impress him get his validation so his moves are more about what dhoni wud think about him rather what he wants to do ( he is a shitty LOI Captain no denying that but around dhoni he doesnt even trust his shitty instincts ). This doesnt happen in test cricket. So many times he leaves captaincy on him Like - Guru g aap ko jo sahi lagta hai Karo. Now this affects team n dhoni coz Team thinks he doesnt trust himself and dhoni think that he left captaincy but he has been handed back this again. Link to comment

How did Dhoni look outside India captaining when he could not rely on part timers like Raina and Yuvraj to squeeze in few overs. Dhoni is ultimate captain when he can control the game with spinners but he looked more clueless when he had to depend on fast bowlers. Link to comment
