A lot of Indian liberals are lamenting about the loss. But very few are aware that a 1000 year old Meenakshi temple also caught fire in 2017. That guy was trolled badly on social media by everyone around the world. They all were saying waste of money, spending so much for some religious place. A historically Christian country will have historic churches as noteworthy sites .... Most of the people who spoke probably haven't done anything themselves in the first place, so they have no right to criticise others contributions. Plus the Notre Dame Cathedral is above religion now anyway, it is a part of history and a cultural significance. With over 800 years of history present. I would see no reason not to restore it!
