Fire at Notre Dame Cathedral

We had planned to visit it , this weekend. Have bought tickets as well. Wah! kya panuati ho mai! 800 year old structure gutted.

A lot of Indian liberals are lamenting about the loss. But very few are aware that a 1000 year old Meenakshi temple also caught fire in 2017. Ashamed to not know about.

I wonder if Indian billionaires pledged anything for Indian sites.

That guy was trolled badly on social media by everyone around the world. They all were saying waste of money, spending so much for some religious place. The money can be put to better use etc. Mostly anti-christian comments.

A historically Christian country will have historic churches as noteworthy sites .... Probably shows that people who do nothing have a lot to say like in India

Yeaa! Most of the people who spoke probably haven't done anything themselves in the first place, so they have no right to criticise others contributions.

Plus the Notre Dame Cathedral is above religion now anyway, it is a part of history and a cultural significance. With over 800 years of history present. I would see no reason not to restore it!

There was general trolling on the donations by the rich. Seems people do not understand culture, tradition, pride, history & choice when they talk about misplaced priorities.

Yes, the people were criticising the donation of money to a church, a religious structure instead of spending that money on the environment, poverty, development etc.
