I do not have much expectations from him-

I am kinda seriously worried that after the pressure created by shammi bumrah and bhuvi n kuldeep, he could be attacked big time , hardik may not ball 10 overs and his 2 or 3 overs could be attacked big time too.

but bhuvi bumrah and shammi look to be in good form.

hardik does not look in full rhythm and vj shankar looks exactly like Binny definitely not better.

DUde he is a 6th bowling option. You forgot Kul cha. Pandya/Shankar will share middle overs.  He won a game by bowling last over. Umesh the "fast bowler" you like could not protect 14 runs against 2 Australia tailenders.

I have given up on Umesh. He is history.

Fast bowling is about hard work and rhythm.. Umesh has practiced less that's why he is bowling under 140k and he looses his line n length often.

Today v have atleast 4 pacers ahead of him because they are in rhythm and at their peak.. See shammi... Bumrah.. Even Saini.. I m seeing prasidh also about to reach there.

Exactly Pandya may bowl 6 overs n get thrashed then Shankar will come in.. I am worried that big hitters don't end up targeting them.

I predict that Mr Shankar will be Attacked big time and even Chahal won't get much turn on pitches that don't support spin n will be attacked.

Kuldeep is a bit of mystery still so he will succeed.

Bumrah Kuldeep shammi and Bhuvi will succeed.

Hardik Shankar Chahal will fail.

Kulcha won't get assistance from swing and pace friendly conditions so I l not be surprised if both fail.

If conditions become swing friendly then Bhuvi will become india's spearhead and he will rock. If it doesn't swing muc and helps pace  bumrah n shammi will rock.. Bumrah will be our spearhead.

Looks like Hardik still has fitness issues and might not play all the matches... They might play Vijay Shankar + Jadeja + Kuldeep and three pacers in those matches, so Jadeja and Shankar can bowl 10 overs between them

Did u get any information on hardik's fitness...

Someone like Saini might be handy to rattle teams like padosis, Sri Lankas, bangla boys who don't like pace.

Saini could finish off pak bangla even Afghanistan.. Take 3 wickets..

If conditions are not swing friendly he could be played ahead of Bhuvi.

Selectors messed up in not picking him.. If conditions are pace friendly.. He could become unplayable.

Your basis on why he will fail depends a lot on who he bowls to , in what situation he bowls to. The way i see it, if he doesn't bowl garbage he should be safe. Problem is if you bowl bad balls regardless of situation teams will punish you. This guy rarely bowls bad balls. If you want to score against him you have to take some chance which is more than enough for a 6th seamer. Pandya on the other hand is bowling a lot of rubbish balls post his injury. As it is our batting line up in the end it is wafer thin. We can't include another seamer. Shankar/Pandya sharing 5 overs each is a much better option. In one dayers it is very easy to hide your 5th bowler. No team is going to attack 5th bowler regardless as one careless shot will lead to collapse.  We are not facing England 6 times. We play each team once. Most of the foreign teams will struggle against spin except may be England.

You have a point.

Point I am trying to share is when I open or any attacking batsmen opens and he comes out of jail (remains not out after facing terror bumrah n swing of bhuvi)...he sees weak bowlers as easy meat. I do so..I attack the weak bowlers and more often I succeed..batting is a totally mental game if u r bold , u score else otherwise.

Seeing a weak bowler, the inside lion of a batsman comes out and attacks the bowler and more often kills the bowler.

Selecting Vijay Shankar over rayudu was absolutely the best decision MSK has ever made. I have no problems with this decision. Vijay Shankar is fitter, a better LOI batsman and a part time bowling option as well. Dunno why rayudu had to make that pathetic 3d comment. Sore loser !

So far from what i have seen he is a much better bowler than lot of main bowlers from the international side also some specialists from our side. First and foremost he has the height. He can extract bounce from a good length. Second he has a shape to the ball in conducive conditions. Third he is reasonably accurate.

So far his bowling doesn't look horrible. In the match he went for runs early on , he came back very well and won the game. Just don't use him in the power play like Kohli did there.

There is nothing wrong in being one-dimensional. Bumrah/Shami/Kul/Cha all are one-dimensional. Can't field Can't bat. But they are blood good at their main job. This guy sucks ball in his main job.

u r saying that he gets good bounce and has a good line n length.

I think in the world cup, best players would be playing and i see his pace is so gentle that one is tempted to attack him.

I feel he will be attacked big time, he may get a few wickets.

I see him as good as STUART BINNY nothing better.

shreyas iyer is a better batsman than vijay shankar and i don't think his bowling will make any positive difference to India in any of the matches.

Iyer has a loose technique. Shankar has displayed very good batting technique. In whatever chance he got with ball he has done a decent job. Won a match with his bowling.  Stalled a collapse in NZ. Batted beautifully with Kohli (better than him) against Australia.

Average speed of Holder, Grande homme, Keemo Paul, Matthews, Phelu and bunch of others bowlers is slower than average speed of Shankar who could reach upto 134 kph. Stokes bowls fast. He is their main bowler. Look at his career ER. 6.13. He bowls mostly in bowler friendly condition.  He gets thwacked by every tom dick and harry in all formats. FIrst of all your premise of "If you bowl fast they won't be tempted to attack" is flat out wrong.

Most expensive fast bowlers in the last couple of years (100 balls min)

Jerome Taylor ER 7.00 (fast bowler)

Oshane Thomas ER 7.22 (fast bowler)

Taskin Ahmed ER 7.43 (fast bowler)

Olivier 6.52 (fast bowler)

Stokes 6.23 (fast bowler)

Even Starc was going around 5.75.

It is an assumption fast bowlers won't be hit around.

Amir a trundler, Faheem a trundler, Mathews trundler, Mustafizur a trundler, Grandhomme a trundler all go under 5 runs per over in the last 2 years
