I’m thinking that too. Christians have been spared from religious violence in Sri Lanka, except for some riots by the sinhalese RW. Such violence against them doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t fit the usual suspects. I suspect that we will have to wait for awhile before coming to conclusions. As you mentioned, internal politics of Sri lanka could also be reason for today’s attacks to show who is still top dog in the country. They have attacked Muslim civilians, some Hindus/Christians (rival Tamil factions/politicians/human shields, religion not a factor...just plain old politics/power struggle and wartime casualties) as well but never Christian civilians. 2. LTTE doesn't identify its struggle with religion. It is a secular militant group with motivation being language, ethnicity, nationalism, socialism. Many of the top leadership group are Christians, as are the cadre and sympathizers including TN based ones. 3. Swain is a swine. No love lost between the majority and Christian minority. No group has claimed responsibility till now, let us not jump to conclusions.
