Kagiso Rabada missing the crucial game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday raised a few eyebrows. After the match, the Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer confirmed that the pacer complained of a stiff back and the management decided to rest him. Cricket South Africa (CSA) is more worried now and has asked for the scans of Rabada’s back after which they will take a call on his further participation in the IPL.

Rabada has been at his best this season and deservedly is ahead in the purple cap race with 25 wickets to his name. The Capitals missed him badly the other day as they went down by a massive 80 runs at the Chepauk. As for CSA is concerned, they would be wanting their premier pacer to be fit for the more important World Cup which is less than a month away now.

The senior DC official close to the developments informed that the CSA got in touch with them immediately after Rabada complained of discomfort. All the tests have been done and the reports have been right away sent to CSA. DC is now waiting for the board to get back on the matter whether to play him or no.

CSA to check the reports

“He just complained of discomfort and we got all the tests done because we don’t wish to take a chance with any of our players. With the World Cup round the corner, even CSA got in touch with us and we spoke to them and have now sent them the reports. They will check the reports and get back to us on how to go about Rabada’s participation in the IPL,” the official was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

The official further also cleared that they wouldn’t want to risk Kagiso Rabada with the World Cup to be played later this month. “He has had an issue with his back and there is no point in risking him. We as a franchise also respect the fact that this is the year of the World Cup,” he further added.
