What's eating Picky Ranting?

Why is he failing so often these days.. Well, this might be the reason for it... ------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs Ponting’s bump steals limelight at awards Vijay Tagore Rianna and Ricky are expecting their first child in November SYDNEY: Rianna Ponting did what Cate Blanchett and Jesica Alba did at the Oscars a night before. Mrs Ponting came to the Allan Border Medal gala — Cricket Australia’s very own version of the Oscars — with a bump in her tummy. Without waiting further, ‘Hubby Dear’ Ricky declared he and Rianna are parents-to be. As cameras started rolling and arc bulbs began flashing, Ponting made the disclosure in the most common way — flashing a smile and putting a hand on Rianna’s stomach. The pictures of the grinning couple were all over Australian papers on Tuesday morning. It will be the first child of the couple, married happily for almost six years. The announcement came at the Red Carpet of the CA’s annual awards nite. The Allan Border Medal went to pacer Brett Lee but some reports suggested that the talk of the function — at Crown Casino in Melbourne — was the Australian captain. Ponting’s impending fatherhood also set the tongue-wagging in motion. If it is the third month of her pregnancy — as Rianna herself revealed — will the Australian captain be able to tour India later this year when she is expected to deliver the baby? There were not many answers to the question. Ponting himself was not available for comment. When contacted, his agent Sam Halvorsen was not willing say anything beyond, “Ricky is thrilled.†A CA spokesman said it’s too early to make a comment. “We’re not going into any discussion on it. Cricket Australia congratulates the mother-and-father-to-be and we’re all happy for him. The CA always respected family commitments of the players,†the spokesman said, without elaborating. Ponting, one may recall, had delayed his departure to the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa last year because of Rianna’s ill-health. Like most Australian cricketers — including India’s very own Anil Kumble — the Australian captain acknowledged his success to his wife, a former law student. “It is great to have her as a big part of my family. She has been a great support for me, given up a lot of things in her life to be around and helped me out through my cricket career. Probably no more than over the last couple of months,†Ponting was quoted saying in the media. Meanwhile, there are reports that there could be a bidding process for the first pictures of the child. A woman’s magazine had apparently paid $20,000 for Ponting’s harbour-front marriage reception in June 2002 to have exclusive access to the event and guests. The magazine may again bid for the child’s first images. According to some player agents, this is a standard practice in the celebrity circles in Australia. Ponting’s agent would not be willing to comment on the issue but Neil Maxwell, a renowned player agent who manages cricketers like Brett Lee, says the tabloid papers in Australia could go out of the way to buy such things. “It would not be right on my part to comment on what Ponting did or is going to do but generally these things are common here. Some tabloids will pay anything to have the privilege of the first access,†Maxwell told this paper. Maxwell, who is also the IPL’s Australia agent, however added that his client Brett Lee had not sold the rights of his marriage to any magazine or channel.
