Huge slice of luck for Pakistan, Dhawan has a phenomenal record against them and a L-R opening combo was our best bet to negate the Amir threat.

We beat them without Kohli. We should beat them without Dhawan.

I had a hairline fracture in my toe last year while playing football, damn painful because you always use your feet unlike thumb or wrist. Doc put a cast, I continued my daily routine and was healed in a fortnight's time. Fingers crossed for Dhawan, luckily it was just a thumb.

They are tougher in English conditions than Dubai, besides Dhawan has been more stellar than Kohli in Indo-Pak matches.

which matches are you talking about? i don't remember dhawan performing any good against them since 2015.

KL Rahul vs left arm seamers it is going to be tricky or we should use KKD against him. He can play left arm seamers reasonably better as their angle perfectly works for his type of shots.

CT 2013 group match...demoralized them when Rohit was struggling

2015 WC

2017 CT group match...better than tuk tuk Rohit

The 2 Asia Cup matches

We haven't played many ODIs against Pak since Dhawan's debut.

I too had a hairline fracture in my arm, as a kid. Completely recovered in 3 weeks.

Then that is good. We just have to bite the bullet and work harder to beat the padosis.

Pakistan , I don't think we need him.We should be good enough to beat that crappy team without him.

Pakistan has atleast a couple of chuckers (Hafeez, Malik)... without them, a 'crappy' team maybe...but with them, a decent team.

For give a shout out to his toughness for carrying on making a 100 :hatsoff:

I was thinking why was the umpire even allowing that break in the middle of the over.... little did anyone know it was a fracture.

Good decision to let him stay with the squad.. We need him for the semis..

Very likely that Rahul will open the batting and Vijay Shankar will play at 4.

That's a good approach .You need to have reserves ready .In this case pant can get acquainted  with English conditions by remaining  with the team .

Never seen something more stupid. What is the point of keeping Dhawan in squad? He has broken finger...so wont be taking anymore part in world cup. Just add Pant in the squad and playing XI before crucial sunday's game. Dont want to see Vijay Shankar batting at 4 in that all important match.

There is a chance of Dhawan recovering within 21 days,if they name a replacement they will be in no position to rollback to Dhawan as per the protocol

That is why they are observing his situation, had it been a serious injury they would have named a replacement there and then

21 days?? :cantstop:

And what happens to the matches in those 21 days? World cup is only 5 weeks tournament and 21 days is too long a period. Our selectors did a mistake in the beginning by selecting a baggage like Shankar which back-fired immensely. Now they are in catch 22 situation, neither they can select Pant nor can they remove Dhawan. Dare I say "Our selectors deserve it"

I hope we play Dinesh Karthik now at no.4, at least he brings experience.

Yes it has been a huge mistake on their part, they should've selected Pant instead of Shankar ,who i think is just making the numbers, even a fragile Jadhav looks a beast in front of him

Or a Seamer should have been their originally

I feel we can dump Karthik and bring in Pant but keeo Dhawan if its only a 2 week injury.

Well ,that won't happen as selector went with kartik as second choice WK Batsmen .
