nevada
Sensible decision. So happy that Rayadu or Rahane didn't get a call up. They are hoping Dhawan will recover but I doubt it. Injuries don't heal magically and take more time to heal than expected. AK007, Mosher, beetle and 2 others 1 1 3 Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Good choice. But ICC doesn't have to be so strict about replacements. They should have allowed us to use a temporary replacement until they recover. It is a bit like substitute. nevada and beetle 2 Link to comment

But its a tough decision from the Indian Team Management , no doubt Link to comment
diehardpacer
They should make the final call as quickly as possible.Even if Dhawan gets fit towards end stages, changing batting orders will be problematic at that stage. If they play him & his injury aggravates, then that will be a messy situation.Unless they think Dhawan will recover within 10 days, they should make the replacement call official. If team wants to have its cake & eat it too ,they should consider niggling one out of Shankar/DK/Jadhav. Sacrifice a pawn for The Greater Good. That way Dhawan can stay in the squad.Surely the world's richest board can find ways to do that . Edited June 13, 2019 by diehardpacer nevada 1 Link to comment
jf1gp_1
We need a no 4 pant is not no 4. They must have thought of something. Shankar has done well against NZ in tough conditions hopefully he continues his run. Link to comment

If it's a hairline fracture it could heal fast but still he should be given 20 day rest. Who knows with medical technology,.he gets healed faster. Link to comment

diga
Dont understand why the world cup standby players are not already in England... The conditions are very different & BCCI could have easily arranged them to play local club side or minor counties to get acclimatized . Travesty that some BCCI babus are already in England beetle 1 Link to comment

Lannister
Why didn't they think this ahead and gave match experience for our backup players. None of these have had a consistent run in the international games and now they are expected to somehow win the WC? Yeah, good luck with that. Link to comment

I have opened batting for 6 years ...slog hitting experts can start hitting only if they have good technique initially. Sehwag got out at low scores (under 10) many times though he had a fair technique. Pant will succeed big time at no 5. Higher than that -i doubt. Link to comment
