Shankar va karthik

Recommended Posts

Now that dhawan is injured - choices for next two games are interesting

open with - karthik

this is to ensure Rahul continues at crucial no 4 . Looking at today’s Pakistan game with aamir running into form , we need king kohli and Rahul to do well against pak ( I am expecting Rohit to be out for 20 Max )

Karthick for all his weaknesses has played left arm and fast bowlers well over the years in his limited short decent patches of form .

shankar is at best a replacement for Kedar ...  if Kedar injured then bring Shankar in .

What do u guys think ?

Ps defeating pak is vital as it almost knocks them off .

Karthik has even opened in tests.  But this Karthik is not the same batsman anymore.  Batting technique has evolved and changed a lot since then.

Besides, KLPD is widely acknowledged as the 'next man up' to get his chance to open in ODIs.  Its what he wants, and is very unlikely that any other "out of the box" is realistically considered at this point.

since its WC only tried and tested ( even if failed) will be used. So its KLR to open. And KKD replacing in the middle order ( or if TM is adventurous Pant). I thnk Shankar will come in only as a replacement for Jhadav.

I would play Shankar over Karthik at 4.Karthik is more suited to no 7.

karthik only good to bat at 6 or 7

Dunno abt that . Feel Rahul Pandya Dhoni and Kedar perhaps are giving us the final flourish we were lacking last two years

karthick if clicks can be a decent asset as it’s a long tournament and we have Kedar and golden Dhoni who are injury prone

team Mgt has though done it right is getting pant to be the massage man for now .

Final flourish is not the only situation .....what if its a collapse. Check Karthik in recent times never stood up when collapses have happened of u need solidity

Shankar did it twice and thats why he is WC squad , also shankar is 10 times better fielder then karthik and can bowl to

Karthik is only good in run chase where large number of runs is not req but High RR is ok with

In place of Shikhar , we should play Shami for next few matches . We have under-utilized Kedar so far and especially on batting wickets, you should be fine with 5 batsmen + 1 all-rounder.  This will give more depth to our bowling .

If it's an overcast day , then get Karthik to play in place of Kuldeep .

this is really the bottomline.

In tough batting conditions for stability its Shankar, in good batting conditions for small short burst its Karthik. Its wierd, they both suck in the other persons game.

Actually if karthik wants to get in its shud be for jadhav not shankar

Karthik is a lower middle order batsman and shankar middle order batsman. Karthik has no buss batting at 4

Problem is Karthik has shown horrible form recently so Shankar maybe picked though it is not like he is is some great form but atleast you have an additional bowling option

Bowling option lol. He is on par with Kohli's bowling.

yeah thats the imbalance in the side basically. Shankar cant hit and karthik cant bowl. Similar to Aussies without stoinis.

DK over Shankar. Both are mediocre but DK’s mediocrity comes from mental strength and not from lack of ability. Dare I say I would be more confident in DK than Shankar in a crunch situation

If DK can do well in crunch situations, why is his mental strength in question?

It will be Shankar as he was the one who was originaly expected to come in at 4. I dont trust karthik anywhere except 50 off 40 needed sitiation in a flat track. He will be the first to go missing if there is a collapse or ball swings more.

Can Pujara play a knock like DK in  Nidhihaas final?

But if one would randomly compare the two. Who would you say has better temperament and mental strength?

Just having the ability to play in certain situations is not great mental strength. You need to have the temperament to be consistent when you are in good form. You need to show the resolve to buckle down and play good innings. Both of which DK lacks.

DK can get a 20 ball 0 on one day but smack good bowlers for an attractive 40 the next. Clearly has talent and ability but there is a reason despite playing 15+ years he has not cemented his place. On the flip side there is a reason why he keeps getting chances for 15 years despite mediocre performances.

But as I said I think DK has the ability and talent much superior to Shankar so would trust him to come good than Shankar.

Lot of rant there. Pujara and DK are good players in Tests and T20s respectively which are completely different formats.

DK's mental strength is strong but concentration is poor. That is probably why he can play good cameos but never play the long innings
