They don't need to as they have great drainage system in place but the issue, the ground had a month's rain in two days.

And why cant they just for big ICC events ?it wont cost them a fortune !

You cant control rain, there can be slight drizzle or torrential downpours ,you just have to be ready for the worse in such important tournaments

Not sure where I read it but read KP was stating ECB can't  afford  extra groundsman in England like BCCI is able to do so in India (Sounds rubbish imo)

Only if ECB had ensured the entire outfield was properly covered. Even yesterday, match was abandoned due to wet outfield and not due to persistent rain. How can the ICC not enforce WC host grounds to compulsorily have proper drainage and adequate covers? I remember in 2011 WC, they created so much drama about so many our grounds not being ready.

On top of that ICC says having reserve days would have meant deploying extra manpower! Imagine a global sports body such lame excuses. If Shashank Manohar has any shame left, he should resign rightway for such gross incompetence of his organisation. No one should be allowed to ruin cricket's global event.

Do you think we're all sitting here laughing and prancing about in the **** falling from the sky while our season gets washed out after waiting over half a year from the last English cricket season for our beloved game to start again? No we're *ing not.

Nearly halfway through the English season and feels like it hasn't started yet. Soon be *ing October and we have to wait again. *ing depressing

This can be avoided if there are rest days. There is no guarantee that matches won't get washed out. But atleast you will have more chances of play and less matches getting washed out. 1999 wc had only one washout. That's because they had a reserve day for each match. ICC should do its job rather than going after Dhoni for wearing inappropriate gloves and Holding for his comment about umpiring. ICC looks more like a communist regime with thought crime penalty and inept at doing their basic job which is to get more interest in cricket.
