Why do Sikhs support Congress in spite of 1984 riots led by Congress leaders?

Actually future of Punjab got saved by a whisker... thanks to Punjab voters. The moment they realised Khalistanis coming in large groups to campaign for AAP in every streets, they feared the worst days of terrorism in Punjab...

The power hungry Kejri was ready to parachute as CM of Punjab... Imagine Punjab Police at the disposal of Kejriwal and his gang giving free run to the Khalistanis to establish themselves...

Punjabi’s will never accept a non Sikh CM. The only (and better) option was to vote for Captain & Congress.

As an important frontline border state, I’d prefer Congress and Captain to be in charge than those pickpockets from AAP...

Why did the people of Punjab vote for Congress despite the fact that Congress was responsible for the Anti-Sikh riots in 1984?

State level politics has lot to do with local politics and leaders. Captain Amrinder singh has some real hold on jat sikh population. Hindu's too in punjab voted in large number for congress .

Prakash Singh Badal was last popular leader of Akali dal. In 2012 despite all surveys he led SAD BJP alliance to consecutive victory. But now he is very old Sukhbir and Harsimrat  are loosing grip. Moreover Majithia is considered as drug lord who is brother of Harsimrat. So don't expect people of punjab just voting to useless politicians just because 84.

^ All Canadian Sikh NRIs are considered Khalistanis by NRI Hindus?....Alright :wp3:

At the end of the day Sikhs in India are influenced by Hinduism and exposed to nationalism in India (for example singing the national anthem everyday in school). There's nothing wrong with that. However Sikhs abroad are not exposed to these things which gives them a different viewpoint which clearly irks some people.
