Dhoni in the middle of India's middle-order mess

If you have followed Dhoni's batting in the last few years, you sensed the routine. He assesses the pace of the pitch and then figures out what a par score is. Then he'll just bat, without ever trying to take any risk, until the very last few overs. His partners too would follow his instructions, without question. Kedar Jadhav is a Dhoni confidante and seems to trust his senior more than himself. Both men had have patiently stitched together partnerships at difficult times like in Melbourne in January.

Not that pretty much everyone is aware of this fact but the most cogent argument that the Cricinfo writer has put forward here is the bold part. There is one thing playing at snails pace yourself but exacerbating the situation by influencing the batting partner in your madness is another. I concede the pitch was not great but that cannot absolve Dhoni off his ordinary aimless batting.

If India has to win the world cup, Dhoni has to be more forthright. Ostentatious displays during stumping appeals is not the only thing expected out of Dhoni. Yeh dil maange more

I can get get Dhonis method, our bowling is leaps and bounds better than our batting and the most important thing we can do is not not get bowled out for a cheap score but having said that they are overdoing it a lot.you can be cautious and still keep the run  rate high with singles .Dhoni is not doing that with his blocking, for a player of his experience he is really really bad at keeping the run rate going with singles and twos.

The ones and two's also seem to have gone out of his batting.

The most infuriating sight in world cricket today is Dhoni lunging towards the ball and tapping it to the fielder inside the ring.

So dhoni gets to decide what the par score is abd others have to follow like brainless sheep?

If you see kohlis interview he was parroting Dhoni's words, about how they decided on a low target and stuck to the plan. Kohli is just a puppet in odis. It's the dhoni show

Sometimes I feel the latter is intentionally sabotaging because another WC win, away from home will take a bit of sheen off Dhoni's own legacy as a world cup winning captain which has only happened twice and only once in the modern era for India

We are not winning the world cup with Shankar, Dhoni and Jadhav at 4, 5 and 6 and nervous wrack Rahul opening.

Our TM f'ed up pretty bad the golden chance of winning a world cup when we are at our peak as an odi team and the competitors are not as good as they were in the past.

Now let's just enjoy this ride by not complaining too much because it's too late and keep our expectations as low as possible. If not, then get ready for an inevitable heartbreak in the Semi final. :shot:
