maniac
In a collapse type situation, Dhoni comes up. For quick runs it is Pandya. He is one of the worst fielders in the Indian side. His bowling is as average as it gets. The novelty factor has worn off. Why can’t we play a better bat or a bowler instead of this pointless cricketer? Also he is fragile and can break down any moment. He is just not a good enough International player. Just in the side thanks to chamchagiri. Now might fluke an innings here and there against weak bowling sides but not good enough Edited June 5, 2019 by maniac rahulrulezz 1 Link to comment

cowboysfan
OP is asking this now? we have so many problems with the middle order but failed to blood youngsters(we have plenty of talent too).this may be his his last tournament because i predict a complete overhaul after the WC of our LOI teams. We have seen he doesn't take time to get his eye in, has the unorthodoxy to unsettle bowlers. Perfect combination for a 6-7 batsman. Bowling wise he is different and can pick wickets when the batsmen are going after him. All in all, do we have a similar player in the squad? sandeep, philcric, tweaker and 1 other 4 Link to comment
kubrickian
Good hitter. Can chip in with 4-5 overs against SENA teams. Not sure who these supposedly better batsmen you are talking about. The guy averages 44 in ODIs with a strike rate over 100. Fitness is the only issue. WeStMiDz, G_B_, tweaker and 1 other 1 3 Link to comment

The fact is for quick runs Pandya is preferred over him and if you think he is a proper bat then how come Dhoni is sent ahead of him or he can’t bat no.4 and not good enough for it. That makes him not suitable to play in most situations. What is the point of having a batsman like that? Fielding and fitness levels we are on the same page. Now coming to bowling, he caught teams off guard with that weird action but now they are ready for him and his bowling career might be cut short soon. Edited June 5, 2019 by maniac Link to comment
G_B_
I think he adds a valid option with the bat and chips in with the ball for those 4-5 overs. Link to comment
Vilander
the guy bats and gets set quickly. Srtikes well, bowls a few ok ish overs. From Mumbai plays for CSK. enough said. Link to comment
The Realist
Bits and pieces player with the bits literally falling off him given his terrible fitness/injury record. Journeyman Jadhav Link to comment

The only viable alternative is Jadeja or Shankar. The former is a bowling option, the latter is a batting option with much inferior skillset with the ball and in all honesty hasn't shown the composure for international matches yet. Jadhav is the best option. Link to comment
rahulrulezz
WTF are you talking about. Jadhav is the ONLY international cricketer in the world to have international and domestic batting average above 40 and strike rate above 100.. Both in domestics and international... That's unheard off!!! His bowling is a plus.. He is thousand times better than Jadeja G_B_ and tweaker 1 1 Link to comment
PBN
I think what maniac might want to say is that the team management thinks he's dispensable and not rated highly considering how he's shifted up and down the order. He should be coming in at #5 and given a proper run. At the moment, he's like playing the role of a 'backup' when things get ugly. Link to comment
