Since Pant hasn't done badly at 4 i would like to persist him there. Having said that, Dhoni at 5 will have to do two roles. Consolidation and finishing. Is he up for it. or should we put Dhoi at 4 and 3 quick run getters following him? or Dhoni should be in between Hitters? Last bit is no.7. India is now left with 1 sixth bowling option who they hardly used in this world cup. Between Jadhav and KKD who would be the better choice. KKD might or might not come off. But he is not going to die wondering what would have happened if we had shown intent. Rohit, Rahul (if shown intent), Kohli, Dhongi (if shown intent atleast against trundler Plunkett), Pant, Pandya, KKD . This is a good line up for chasing as well. Link to comment

KKD anyday of the week, twice on Sunday. He is a winner - has everyone already forgotten his blitzkrieg against Bangladesh that won us a finals and trophy when we needed something like 36 in last 2 overs and pathetic Vijay Shankar could not put bat to bal. KKD is the best finisher in India right now. Kedar Jadhav is pathetic waste as a finisher. Link to comment

Dhoni should bat at 4, he is more likely than Pant to consolidate and get a bigger score (minimum 60-70). If we play at Edgbaston I hope to see this: Rohit, Agarwal, Kohli, Dhoni, Rahul, Pant, Pandya, BK, Shami, Chahal, Bumrah Some good T20 hitters lower down the order there: Rahul Pant Pandya. Batting to 8. I'd love to see Jaddu in there but don't want to drop 5-7. I don't mind Kartick but again to me Rahul, Pant and Pandya are really attacking players who are more likely to get fast 50s. Rahul is slow as hell opening but when he plays in T20 mode he is pretty fast. Going into knockouts you want a strong top 4 and lets give Agarwal a game versus Sri Lanka, he'll also be unknown which will help us, confident player. But I think India should play jdega to give the bowling option..At no. 7 with few balls to go..Jadega cannot do worse than kartik or jadhav anyway.. That way u can play 3 seemers as well.. I noticed KLR is aware of Mayank's presence and hence he was trying his best to play better in the last match. Battingwise, Kedar is not performing at all and even Jadeja can take singles like him. I would be tempted to play Jadeja over Kedar in all the remaining matches. mishra 1 Link to comment

But if Thala and Rohit are active from ball 1 in terms of team management, I am certain that they will make Kuldeep as effective as he could be. Link to comment

They created an illusion in that match like they are some super duper players against spin. They picked 51 (16, 11, 24) runs from last 3 overs of shami. First 4 overs 46 runs India just has to hold him back as long as possible if the opening pair is still there. Now watch carefully the way he bats. Only weak spots I can see in his batting style is yorker length or if the ball bounces on 3 4 5th stums just at the height of his belt waist. Usually bowls well in the middle. Couple of big overs of 11 and 15 upset our flow. Few reverse sweeps, slog sweeps clicked for them. With slow turn he was up against it. Otherwise he is an impact bowler. If they want to leave out a spinner drop him and pick Jadeja in place of him. India needs 2 spinners against England.
