Pandya is the only “allrounder” to neither have a 50 or a 4fr

Recommended Posts

H.Pandya

226 runs at 32.00, SR of 112.00, no 50 or 100. also came in with plenty of time to spare in most games.

10 wickets at 45.00 with economy of 5.76. no 4 fr or 5fr

on the other hand

B. Stokes

381 runs at 54.00 average and SR of 95 with 4 50's. Played some clutch knocks

7 wickets at 32.00 with Economy  of 4.7

J.Neesham

Only 7 innings but 213 runs at average of 36.00 including a back to the wall 97* against Pakistan. S/R on the lower side at 79 but obviously Nzl is the only team that had to chase/defend total of 300+ only once.

12 wickets at 20.75 including a 5fr

Brathwaite 154 runs including a clutch 100 that almost pulled off an impossible chase and 9 wickets including a 4fr

Holder 170 runs that included a 50 and 8 wickets with no 4fr or 5fr.

So our allrounder is the only guy not to have a single 50 or a minimum 4fr :hatsoff: Not sure if he is a batsman or a bowler

If he had the opportunity to bat higher (and get his catches dropped), he would have scored 100s as well. Should have been promoted in games such as vs. SL. As for bowling, he is actually being praised for completing his 10 overs, which allowed Ind to play another specialist batsman

On good batting surfaces, he does not get chances to bat. On good bowling surfaces, the guys who bat for long in other matches, do not deliver, exposing other batsmen earlier. On top of that, these openers mess up chases like that against Eng, setting the rest of the team for failure

Performed well in the knockout game. where likes of Rohit, who were supposed to be in good form, failed to deliver where it counted

Every name I mentioned has a clutch knock including Grandhomme, Neesham and Brathwaite whom we talk like they don't even belong in Pandya's league. in fact Neesham has a 5fr as well.

Why are you bringing in Rohit? is he a allrounder?

Let’s analyse compare with another player. Maxwell and Pandya are similar batsman. They both rely on arm speed. Result of such arm speed is , ball will travel somewhere behind the stumps.

Nxt time you watch either of two see areas where they score runs.

Now can you rely on a batsman like Pandya and Maxwell. No, never. They can get out any time.

Its coaches job to bring in some technique in Pandya’s batting.

I have no issue with his bowling but he should not be overworked. His initial few overs are spray bullets. A coach can simply fix it by telling exactly how to get his arms warmed right before bowls his First  ball.

So all in all: poor coaching on both fronts

I don't see any issues above. He has delivered with 30-40+ scores on quite a few occasions, which has benefitted the team, and where he failed, he was mostly hitting the ball from the go

Rohit is mentioned because if he were to swap the position with Pandya, he would struggle to even get going from ball one. And we know his "FCA"

Stokes played 2-3 clutch knocks from a hopeless situation. Neesham and Grandhomme played back to the wall knocks against Pak and SA, Brathwaite almost pulled off an epic heist. None of Pnadya's innings were of the same quality.

He came at 24/5 with 200+ runs to go in the 10th over and he failed in his first real test. I also see a 0 there and a score of 7 vs Afghan were we were under pressure. Looks like he enjoys when there is a solid platform left by openers or in our case opener and Kohli to swing the bat. sorry don't rate such innings. Even Wahab Riaz played such knocks. No 50 minimum shows, not good enough for proper knocks. and no 4 fr means not a good enough bowling performance either

Hardik Pandya is a captaincy material. Mostly because he has a strong psychological makeup. He can be our next Dhoni. If I was a selector, I would groom him to lead the T-20 side for the 2020 WC and then possibly the ODI side.

That is my suggestion as well .... he is street smart, and can understand the perspective from both batting and bowling PoV. Also he gives it all on the field, which can be inspiring

And he got out in trying to get Ind to a win from an impossible situation unlike Rohit who is a liability when conditions support bowlers. If he received dropped chances like certain someone, he would have single handled won Ind the game

Stats are not the only thing, he was able to bowl 10 overs in most of the matches, and had useful contribution in batting and took 10 wickets even with many front line wicket taking bowlers, he did a good job as an all rounder. He is behind Stokes and Neeshan but better than rest of the fast bowling all rounders.

He got out playing across the line to a spinner when that was not needed and the pitch eased up.

Even spin bowling allrounders like Shakib had a ATG record, Imad Wasim played a match winning knock to get his team over the line and Jadeja scored a 50 to almost win the game.

it's a bottom half performance along with Morris, Pheklekwayo etc. something you expect from a bottom half side not the top side in the world

Marwaris have mental strength and I'd have bet my skin on Mayank Agarwal performing much better than that Rahul in opening... but he was not given a chance in the SL match.

STFU with the caste crap idiot. This is why India is a laughing stock in front of the world. Chewtiya sala. Mods should ban mofos like you. Probably a Pakistani with an Indian id.

Lots of Pak morons are creating fake ids and start either caste crap or hindu-muslim crap to try and turn Indians against each other (which unfortunately is very easy to do as a large majority are fools). At least on ICF mods should take care of this.

That is fine as the RRR was in the process of constantly rising. And NZ spinner needed to be unsettled

I do not know why you are talking about 50 as if it is some kind of a milestone for a guy whose main role is to get quick runs for his team and when he has scores of 45, 46, and 48 at a great SR

When specialists like Rohit need chances to even score a 50, Pandya's performances in all 3 departments are commendable

Thanks!

Let's go through his innings

15* and 7 * with little runs needed and lot of deliveries. even Chahal/Bunrah could have got those

Against pak in a clutch came in the 38th over with a license after a great platform got 26(19)

Against Afghan scored 7 when he was really needed as India was back to the wall

Against Bangla got a duck

AGainst Aus got a 48, I am not going to apply FCA here because it's lame and 40 odd vs WI-decent knocks nothing earth shattering

45 vs Eng and 32 vs Newzeland should have been knocks where there was plenty of time and should have gotten us over the line but choke job

I guess we set the bar so low for 5th bowler that economy rate of 5.6 and average of 46 is considered great bowling performance

Pandya bowled more overs than Stokes.  Took more wickets than Stokes.  Didn't have the luxury of being 6th or 7th bowler, had to front up and bowl during difficult times - which he did, reasonably well.

Its interesting how you bend over backwards swallowing your own s**t trying to minimize the value of Pandya's innings against Australia - which arguably ended up being the difference between winning and losing that game.

There's a reason why the consensus on Pandya's WC is that he did well.  And the only moroniac with an agenda trying to bash him, isn't really getting the traction he hoped for.  But you do you.  Its a free forum.  Others are free to call out your trash too though.

Time for you to go run and hide, and come back as global baba, or whatever weirdness floats your boat.

Unbelievable atl east guys like Rohit,Virat and Dhoni have a great body of work that speaks for itself and have these hardcore fans (not me :) ) but even guys like Pant and Pandya have these militant defenders (Zen well I can understand :) )  who have done jack :hmmmm2:.

Look I think Pant has a great potential but Pandya sorry has gotten the most golden treatment ever in the history if Indian cricket and hasn't lived up to the hype. as a fellow person who grew up in Mumbai would say bits and pieces to the core.

I believe in backing talents and at the same time there is thin line of where you draw the line. you have it or you don't. Most ATG's are not manufactured, you see it in them from the first few games itself. That is why still not given up on Pant but Pandya has been around for 3 years. Kapil debuted in 79 and by 83 he played the greatest ODI knock of all time and captained his team to the WC. Was considered to be one of the greatest all rounders already

Pandya himself has said that he is not Kapil Dev. While his utility over others for the role he is currently playing has been already discussed in details :winky: .... and of course, if he gets to consistently bat higher, he will do well there too. Has an overseas test 100 and 5-er
