Is Kohli a ATG due to external factors..

Recommended Posts

It might seem reactive to the loss, but the sequence of losses , pathetic team selections and choking in most important stages makes me wonder if all the stats are meaningless.

Average of 12 in WC knock outs is pathetic.  Having the best bowling attack and probably the second best batsman , if kohli can't win it, when else could he do it.. add to the fact that the balls change,  pitches are flatter, cricket enthusiasm waned in so many countries,  powerplayrules, shorter boundaries.. his greatness is amplified due to a slew of external factors..  easier bowlers and shorter boundaries means easy to score as a consolidator..

All wc winning teams had clutch players.. Steve Waugh, Smith, symmonds, aravind de Silva, Ponting,  yuvi ..

Kohli just pads stats .. and now with the media focus tries to act as some angel.. walking off when he did not touch the ball against Pakistan and doing drama when pant gets out..

If he does not win us the next WC, he will just be remembered as a manipulative run accumulator. For now, he is a useless team player... I am sure many will have similar stats if given the backing and position at which kohli bats in ODis.

His era just coincided with one where our other batsmen were so bad or the good ones did not get a long enough run to get their confidence.  Leave apart dhawan, rohit, kohli, dhoni none of the others got vote of confidence among batsmen..

Sorry  to say but he will be remembered as GOAT. sachin was considered a legend and even GOAT before  2011. In fact he was more popular by 2003. Oh and BTW no one considers clutch Arvinda de Silva even in top 10 odi batsmen. Just go and read  about  the greatest odi XI selected by different players and find how many have selected Arvinda in it.

No he’s actually very good. Easily the best batsmen of Asia.

You are being too kind. He is not even the 2nd best batsman in his own team. Chepu for Tests recently (Hahane in the past), Rohit/Dhawan in ODIs because they do well in multi-nation tourneys, and KLR in T20s (who scores at a fairly similar avg and better SR).

Rohit and Dhawan might do great in big tournaments but if we are to look at there stats overall. Kohli fully deserves his hype. The guy is nearing a milestone of breaking Tendulkars most hundreds record in ODI cricket. If a batsmen scores that many hundreds it means there is something special. Lets not forget the outside influences he has on the game for Asian cricket. Kohli is a ideal player for any youngster to follow, cause the guy literally changed his whole life style for cricket. Many may love the game. But not many actually play the game and live the game like Kohli.

Kohli has padded his stats in useless bilaterals and failed to turn up in WCs and CTs. If anything, I have been more happier with his Test batting than ODIs. The old Kohli, before he acquired this fake persona, was at least a reasonably honest cricketer with integrity: he would use BCs and MCs because they came naturally to him. Now, we see him doing PR all the time. He needs to shut the eff up and get on with playing the game. And learn how to handle high-pressure situations from WIlliamson and SMith.

I was hot and cold with his old version. I feel he was very over the top with terrible attitude. At least now a days he feels more calmer. I know a lot of you are saying he is doing PR statements but what if the guy has matured? What if back than he had other issues that no one knew about and now he has finally found peace with in himself? This transition reminds me of how Dhoni transformed as a batsmen. Early on when he was young he would go for big hits all the time. Once he got more responsibility he matured into the finisher he is today. Kohli seems to have gotten a similar transformation. The guy is no longer a young troubled teenager. He is a grown man who knows how to control his emotions. Hate him or love him he is the most recognizable cricketer you have today after Dhoni.
