India's New Middle order player and finisher

Recommended Posts

Which new players we should give chance in the middle order let us Chuck our jadhav, dhoni and karthick they are all aged out

Top 3 is already settled (Rohit, shikhar and Kohli)

May consider p.shaw or Shreyas iyer if one of them is injured

NO4 POSITION -

Gill ( in experienced but he is good technically)

Rahul ( can try him at 4 and 1 )

Rahane ( experienced can consolidate better )

NO5 Position-

Pant ( very good batsman but  I don't trust his keeping)

Ishan kishan( inexperienced but he is good technically)

Raina( experienced can be included if reduces his belly and becomes fit once dhoni goes we need experienced finisher)

No 6 position

Vijay Shankar

Manish Pandey

No7 pandya or jaddu

No Raina at least in the ODI set up, he does have a few year of cricket left in him. But by the next WC he will already be 36, it’s a another matter if he is currently on fire, and fit. But it’s not the case, we should look forward and not backwards. Both pant and ishan are inexperienced but the only way to solve that is to play them more.

Rohit

Dhawan (Mayank,Shaw reserve)

Kohli (Gill backup)

Gill or Iyer

Vihari (can bowl,Parag long shot,Shaw can also be tried as lower order hitter)

Pant (Kishan reserve - can bat at 5 if needed)

Pandya/Jadeja

Thing to note is one of top 5 needs to be 6th bowler.

Openers: Rohit, Dhawan (short-term)

Long-term: Shaw, Pant (wk), Rohit (?), Gaekwad

No. 3 short-term: Kohli

No. 3 long-term: Gill

No. 4 and 5 short- and long-term: Gill, KLR, Mayank, Iyer

No. 6 and 7 short- and long-term: Jaddu, Hardik, Abhishek, Lomror, Hooda, Krunal [lack of pace-bowling AR options is worrying. Not convinced by shankar]
