Everybody says that for emotional votes. Siddaramaih said same in Karnataka, yet he is now trying to hustle his way to being CM again. Somebody like Badal Sr ruled well into his mid/late 80s. His status was no more than today Rishab pant has. The other party too was wealthy so it is not a question of rich vs poor The fact is the case went from trial court to supreme court and yet he was acquicted shows that he was not guily. There are many contenders of CM after Amrinder Shingh, in Congress. It'll not be a cake walk for Siddhu to just parachute jump on the CM seat... Merged his party into congress (which cost cong elections in 2012) and was rewarded with finance. He has Amrinders blessings to take over. Then there is the Pratap Singh Bajwa. His faction is the second largest in Congress after Amrinder. I think the Amrinder faction and the Bajwa faction will decide the successor. Bajwa too is close to the Gandhis.
