NEW DELHI: In a major crackdown on a new radical Islamic outfit based in Tamil Nadu, the NIA on Monday arrested 14 more people associated with the 'Ansarulla' group purportedly planning terrorist attacks in the country with the intention of "establishing Islamic rule".

Two other accused named in the NIA FIR were arrested on Sunday. The third accused figuring in the FIR, Syed Mohammed Bukhari, was among the 14 arrested on Monday. Those arrested are largely from the area in and around Chennai and Nagapattinam. 'Ansarulla' is possibly one of the largest modules subscribing to radical Islam and jihadi ideology to be busted in a single state.

Earlier in 2016, the NIA had cracked down on a pan-India, Islamic Module comprising around two dozen operatives across several states. In September 2018, the agency busted another IS-inspired module based in Delhi and UP, arresting 10 persons who were "at an advanced stage of preparation for carrying out terror attacks."

In a way the attacks in SL were an eye opener for India.

One outfit was actively backing the DMK. They basically just said we are different etc etc and not related to the SL branch but their youtube channel covered the same ideologue.

I think Kerala and TN are the new front of islamic terrorism in India. With sympathisers like the DMK it is imperitive the CG do not shy away from arresting troublemakers. Even if it means presidents rule.
