Dhoni told he’s 'no longer in scheme of things', but not retiring for now

Looks like he is taking it till the last minute with his retirement. Delay it as much as possible to keep the "active cricketer" clause alive for his endoresement deals

Nothing wrong. Dhoni can retire whenever he wants. BCCI has done right thing for a change.

Somehow I think this is just another drama to calm down sane voices. Won't be surprised if he gets picked up for next series by incompetent Chief selector sahaab. BCCI and selectors along with some cricketers are expert in planting stories.

Yes, this is very much possible. They "rested" him for T20 and promptly brought him back not too long ago. After the anger subsides, a new selection committee can pick him again for his "experience and wealth of knowledge". As Dhoni sits on the sidelines, the sentimentally driven fans and media will start yearning for him again and ask  "if Kedar Jadhav can still be picked, then why not Dhoni?".
