Dale Steyn retires from red ball cricket

Recommended Posts

Great career derailed by injuries the last few years. At one point 500 wickets for him looked like a sure thing. Sad to see him go this way. Would have been nice to sign off after playing at-least one full series.

Bowler you always wanted to watch. Made the test cricket more watchable and lively every time one would think the game is getting boring.

Haven't enjoyed watching any bowler more than this guy in last 10 years.

Wish he had some more left to offer, but he knows what he is doing with this decision.

Dale Steyn will be an all time great bowler. In a time of batting roads, he has managed to outwit many a batsmen. We should thank him for ending Hitman's test career otherwise he will still be playing as a middle order bat under his old buddy rat

Kept high quality fast bowling alive in a very dry period (07-13) . In the top 3 to ever bowl fast in test cricket . Those vicious late outswinger s which swung from outside leg to top of off , reverse with the old ball, a menacing skiddy bouncer and of course the ability to bowl faster spells as the day progresses. Probably the last great fast bowler in test cricket.

we have not seen the end of hitman yet... too premature to rule him out. as long as ratman is captain, hitman is not far behind.

We need both of them to succeed date I say even in test cricket. The emotional part of me DOESN'T want to see a failed test career for hitman.

fat chance of someone succeeding in tests after the no of chances hitman has got. we saw what happens when the pitch has something in it for bowlers during NZ SF. indian ODI top order is very flaky in bowling friendly conditions. dhawan and hitman are not technically adept and kohli is a mental midget in KOs (regardless of pitches). anyway, I don't want to say more because this is a thread about the champion steyn.
