1st T20I (N), South Africa tour of India at Dharamsala, Sep 15 2019 07:00 PM IST

Recommended Posts

The threat of rain, a wet outfield and evening dew are expected to be India’s main bugbears against a new-look South African side.

Squad

India (probable): 1 Rohit Sharma, 2 Shikhar Dhawan/ KL Rahul, 3 Virat Kohli (capt), 4 Manish Pandey/Shreyas Iyer, 5 Rishabh Pant (wk), 6 Hardik Pandya, 7 Krunal Pandya, 8 Ravindra Jadeja/Rahul Chahar, 9 Washington Sundar, 10 Deepak Chahar, 11 Navdeep Saini

South Africa (probable): 1. Quinton de Kock (capt & wk), 2 Reeza Hendricks, 3 Temba Bavuma, 4 Rassie van der Dussen, 5 David Miller, 6 Andile Phehlukwayo, 7 Dwaine Pretorius, 8 Bjorn Fortuin/George Linde, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Junior Dala/Anrich Nortje, 11 Tabraiz Shamsi

Pitch and conditions

The pitch, too, is hard to predict, considering the rain threat. The pitch had to be covered because of afternoon showers on Saturday. Some rain has been forecast for Sunday too.

Kohli is forgetting that Kuldeep and Chahal  (  along with Bumrah of course ) have been responsible for our LOI bowling being so strong and winning us a high % of matches.

How many matches will the No.8 and No.9 batsmen win if they are average bowlers   !!

for that they are playing jadeja who hasnt been good as a bowler in t20, if batting exploits is the idea then also they shud look at someone like gowtham not jadeja since we already have a left arm spinner in Krunal who at this point owns a place in t20

Looking for runs from 9 and 10 in a 20 over game doesn't reflect too well on the ability of the specialist batsmen to get the job done.

Acc to kohli youngster shudnt expect more then 5 games rope

Looks to be a comment aimed at Pant to put him under more pressure.

If Kohli’s yardstick was applied on him, his Test career would have ended in Australia in 2012.

Amazing how Shastri and Kohli, two of the most backed teenaged cricketers by BCCI, have turned away from youngsters. All this because they have to justify Dhoni’s inclusion for the next T20 WC. Screwing the national team to pay off some IOUs to Dhoni.

Pant already has two overseas test hundreds

What baffles me is their game plan - our top 3 already bats like they wanna play till end now no.4 options are pandey n iyer who also are the ones who will bat till end.... Then why do u they need so much depth  if top 4 have decided to bat till end. Such batting approach will get us mostly 180 scores which are chasable in current age of t20....thats where attacking bowlers will come in play .....but but but we are choosing bowler for batting skills

Don't understand why only bowlers need to have a secondary skill. Why can't the batsmen chip in with a couple of overs of.bowling? It can be handy if a bowler is having a bad day or is injured.

And now they are publicly going after a guy who can hit 6s from ball one by asking him to be circumspect and play according to the situation. Imagine them expecting a 21 yr old to rein in his attacking instincts, that too after a month of the event having happened!

What an absolutely cowardly bunch of morons in the leadership position. All they care about is them and their friends. No wonder we haven't won a major trophy under this setup.

Ironically they talk all the time about being aggresive but they wanna plan playing safe.

If youngsters are going to get only 5 games which idiot will dare to start hittting from ball 1 ? He will try to remain not out !

That's been one of the worst failures of this Shastri coaching era - no players pushed to develop a secondary skill ...we still lack specialist fielders at most positions, batsmen can't bowl for nuts, tail can't bat for nuts
