Just went through dhonis T20 record.. Just two fifties in career.. strike rate is an astonishing 126 for a middle order finisher... he was not out 42 times out of 85 innings coz of which averages 37. In hindsight he is the single biggest reason why we play the same top 3 of ODIs in T20s as well looking for solidifying than going bang bang.

If any other team had screwed up WC SF after topping the group like we did, we would have seen many changes from that team and numerous questions pointed at captain and coach.What did we do?? Sacked Bangar brought in Rathore, the real culprit is selling jingoism on the name of Army and someone who was drafted during the middle of the tournament, someone who was not given enough ODIs during those 4 years has been scrutinized for short selections.His short selection is bad, Accepted. The guy has played a total of 15-20 matches and he's already been singled out by these jokers for his failures. He's a 21 yr old FFS and here are the coach and captain bitching about his shot selection publicly. All this with an aim to derail him completely so that their favorite Dhoni can have a free ride in the team.

 

This same bunch had no shame in defending Dhoni nonstop despite his pathetic selfish batting from 2015-2019.  Do any youngsters have any futuresat all under this combo?

 

I just hope Pant is talking to his childhood coach and mentor else he could totally lose his confidence and whither away. Not sure if there is anyone in the team who he can go to right now.

The need of the hour is to encourage upcoming batting talent in white ball cricket & give them more opportunities but it seems Shastri has different thoughts on that. Shastri as a coach has all the right to scold a player & give him an earful. But the way he has pin-pointed Pant is shameful to say the least. Why on earth was Shastri made a team director by BCCI? The decision taken in 2014 is still haunting us in 2019. This person with zero experience who never coached or managed even a gully team was given one of the most sought after jobs.
Has anyone seen Mr.Shastri give throwdowns to any player on the nets?? I haven't. But I have watched Bob Woolmer & Duncan Fletcher, who were much older than Shastri, work hard on the field along with their players. Also I never heard any player singing praises of Shastri's tactics which could be helpful on the field. Sridhar, B. Arun, Bangar used to work in their respective departments while this moron has proudly carried off his paunch everywhere.

The problem here is not Shastri making the wrong statement because yes Pant's shot selection needs a lot of work. The problem here is this same guy would go to any extent to  suck the power centers of Indian cricket now which is guys like Dhoni, Kohli or even Rohit.

 

This culture of bullying and favoritism is rampant in the Indian cricket system clearly. guys like Pujara and Rahane are 3-4 bad knocks from being dropped. No one is safe from the chopping block and there is a lot of insecurity in the Indian camp, thanks to this kind of attitude. Shastri is a cancer that is going to harm Indian cricket in the long run.
