Gollum
Turkey occupies and maintains a military presence in 'Northern Cyprus' Quote As Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades met on the sidelines of the UNGA, India reiterated India's consistent support for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of the Republic of Cyprus. Turkey occupies and maintains a military presence in 'Northern Cyprus'. The relations between the two countries had worsened under Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Anastasiades speaking from UNGA said, according to WION, "Turkey threatens Cyprus that there will be severe consequences if we proceed ahead with our energy programme... it threatens neighbouring states and energy companies, with which we are cooperating and have established conventional obligations". Erdogan raised the Kashmir issue during his address at the United Nations, saying it is imperative to solve the problem through "dialogue on the basis of justice, equity, and not through collision". Turkey is the only Muslim country to have supported Pakistan after India revoked Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. In his speech before at the UN General Assembly, Erdogan said the stability and prosperity of South Asia cannot he separated from the Kashmir issue. "One of the problems to which the international community still does not devote enough attention is the Kashmir conflict, which awaits a solution for 72 years," he said in his address to the general debate on Tuesday. Earlier, Prime Minister Khan had met President Erdogan on the sidelines and discussed with him bilateral relations and the latest situation since India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. LINK About time. Turkey has always backed Pakistan and irritated us, under Erdogan open hostility from their end. To think that SOB has a huge fan following among a certain section in India and was honoured by a certain college in Delhi Let them enjoy their friendship with Bakis, let us do what is sensible for a change. Congress never had the guts, good to see a party with a spine in charge now. Next up, back Greece for they too have issues with Turkey. Lastly Armenia, don't think our coward govts of past recognized the Armenian genocide. Despite us having an Armenian community in India. If turks still don't mend their ways we have Kurdistan. Btw what is Gulen's ideology? G_B_, dial_100 and Real McCoy 1
Gollum
Malaysia is another headache, Mahathir barks a lot. Hope this is a temporary phase but pessimistic. A country with 60% Muslims that is Islamic by definition, runs on Shariah and discriminates against kafirs wants to teach secular India, kya baat hai yaar When in minority cry secularism, human rights, nautanki of victimhood and when at 60% (even lesser) sharia or death. lesson for all of us. Dunno about Istanbul but this may help, overall picture.... Indian tourist arrivals in Turkey marks a 56% growth Quote The Turkish Tourism Board in India revealed that between January to July this year, Turkey has registered a 56% increase in the number of Indian tourist arrivals in comparison to the same period last year, hosting 130,000 Indian visitors. With such positive growth rate and indicative data coming from ministry, Turkey tourism board is expecting to host around 250,000 Indian tourists by the end of 2019 The latest official statistics show that more than 24 million foreign tourists visited Turkey within the period of January to July, a strong 14.10 percent increase from the same period of last year. Turkey has emerged as a popular destination for Indian travelers across categories. From leisure travel to FITs, Indian weddings to Mice summits, there has been a significant increase in all segments. This year Turkey witnessed a substantial surge in the number of extravagant Indian destination weddings across Turkey. Similarly, MICE travel to Turkey increased at an incredibly fast pace. The tourism board further announced that by the end of 2019, Turkey is expected to host around 30 Indian weddings and 30.000 MICE visitors. Basis the current arrival numbers and the activities planned in months to come, the tourism board is hoping to reach a record number of Indian tourist arrivals in Turkey by the end of this year. The first half has witnessed a record engagement in terms of FITs, weddings & MICE and this trend will only go up. As per this LINK Quote According to the Culture and Tourism Ministry, around 147,127 Indian tourists visited Turkey in 2018, up from 86,996 in 2017 and 79,316 in 2016. Pretty sure we'll have higher numbers in Malaysia and China. Malaysia understandable because of their massive Tamil population (relatives/friends/business/politics/temples/culture/Kollywood) as well as being cheap.... and China hosting so many summits, seminars, workshops. But China also sees many touristy arrivals from India, esp Hong Kong. What can we do? Edited September 29, 2019 by Gollum randomGuy

G_B_
hmm from what i know IndiGo airlines wanted to make turkey their number 1 hub and tie up with Turkish airlines as a low cost gateway to Europe for indian tourists....undercut the gulf hubs. If Erdogen continues to be vicious on the matter of Kashmir then surely India needs to ask Indigo to shelve their plans and limit access to Turkish airlines. For what its worth Erdogen is known to make loud statements as the self proclaimed leader of the muslim world. In realpolitik he has fostered an under the table relationship even with Israel. Fundamentally you cant just cut off doing business with the world be it malaysia or turkey. Modi visiting Armenia and Cyprus is the apt message sent. Let us see how Erdogen responds. If Turkey talks kashmir, talk about kurds the armenian genocide and northern cyprus. If Turkey actively votes against india causing us real harm then take more concrete steps. Ditto Malaysia. This was the first time ever that a Turkish shipyard which is part of TAIS industrial group, participated in any defence contract in India. The Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL)’s collaboration with M/s Anadolu Shipyard, Turkey for the FSS project estimated to cost of $ 2.3 billion is expected to be put on a hold. Without citing any reason, speaking to Financial Express Online on condition of anonymity, a senior official confirmed that “The contract for the 45,000-ton fleet support ships (FSS) for the Indian Navy with the Turkish Company could be delayed.” “It could be a fall out of Turkey cosying up to Pakistan and raising Kashmir issue at the recently concluded 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA),” said the officer. It may be recalled that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had raised the Kashmir issue and had criticised the international community for not paying attention to the situation. On the sidelines of the UNGA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with leaders of Turkey’s strong rivals and close neighbours –Cyprus, Armenia and Greece. Hopefully it is true diga

Pandya_Power
Turkey's position has been very weak, thanks to Erdogan's power moves and mismanagement of the macroeconomic policy. Ofcourse it stopped being a relevant power center in International Relations a while before its current problems. Bakis will not find a savior in Erdogan. If anything, this looks more like two bankrupt nations banding together.
