Lol, can't get hopes up too much...dada has made some stunning U-turns in past. And not sure why he's talking about these things, as President, his official stance should be I have no say in selection. Such statements may prompt some busybody loony to approach courts against him for conflict of interest, or some such....and publicity hungry milords will surely entertain!

This has become a joke. So saurabh is saying lets see what doni wants. Is it on the player to decide who should be in the team, or is it in the teams interest what players must play. Theres just way too much money and politics involved in Indian cricket. I am not expecting any changes happening soon. If saurabh ganguly is happy shaking hands with anurag and Jay, rest assured he is part of the peaky blinders brigade.

Meh, when the selectors wanted to remove dhoni from captain and the BCCI president I intervened and then selectors were sacked, nothing happened

To be honest retiring is MSD’s personal call.

Picking him or dropping him is the selector’s call.

However all this drama of speaking to him, requesting him, letting him pick and chose is totally disgusting.

Gavaskar retired when he had a couple of years of test cricket still left

Kapil Dev was dropped

Sachin once over the hill, there was maybe at best a background discussion to fasten the whole retirement process and give him a farewell series. All this happened quickly.

Dravid,Kumble,Laxman,Ganguly,Gambhir,Yuvraj,Sehwag all called it quits when they knew it was over.

Only with MSD we see all this drama of BCCI president talking to him etc etc.

Just pick him if you think he is good enough or don’t, what is this bs of discussing retirement :wall:

At least this means ganguly will get dhoni to commit to a date and talk openly about his retirement. Recent times have been weird with dhoni taking voluntary offs, rumors spreading, home coming back

Like it or not looks like Dhoni is going to play the WT20. While Ganguly will become a bigger hero to us if he talks Dhoni into retirement, there are plenty of morons who will be totally pissed at him and don’t think he would want to start his presidency on an unpopular note. Also srini mama, Amit Shah etc etc are all power players still and Dhoni has all their backing.

Agree with your other points, but it'll be foolish of Dhoni and TM to suddenly have him walk into the T20I squad.. He is hardly match ready.

He might be waiting to play his last season for CSK and retire from all cricket after that... His perceived brand value might be lesser if he plays for CSK as a retired player than as a current Indian player.

why is it such a fuss?? He ll retire the way he wants n every player has that right..... harbhajan singh has also retired till now. If u dont want him dont pick him .....this all is making it sound like that day he makes himself avl everyones will be forced to select him

Maybe Dada is aware of the IOUs between Kohli-Shastri-Dhoni nexus. He saw this nexus wreck our chances before and during the WC.

No wonder he’s talking about Dhoni even before taking over the new role. Upto Dhoni if he reads the signals correctly and decides to retire voluntarily.

Dhoni wants a farewell in T20 wc.. but since he is too egoistic to ask for those things openly he is skipping all the ongoing series one after the other as he is worried that if he doesn't do well in bilaterals then his farewell might be impacted.. I can't think of any other reason beyond this.  Or may be he told this to Virat/ Shastri and got their approval

You must be naive to think if MSD Pr puts out a news that says he is available for selection for WT20 and the selectors don’t pick him, there won’t be any backlash.

Yes in a perfect world ,he has the choice to retire when he wants and the selectors need to pick team on merit.

For example even recently the news was MSD made himself unavailable for WI,SA and Bangladesh to serve his country or some crap like that , the news wasn’t selectors moved on from MSD. This is why some clarity is required.

or when chappell dravid dropped ganguly........that backlash was unmatchable

they need to do their job and i dnt think backlash wud be that big as it ll be only his blind fans even his biggest fans knws its over for him. u cant do anything about blind fans those still feel bad for yuvi, irfan , raina
