Three matches where toss winners chose to bat and got beaten by an innings

It is a strange coincidence that three test matches in the last few days have had a similar result.

Innings defeat for the visitors... where all three visitors won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pak won the toss vs Aus and elected to bat first.

BD won the toss vs India and elected to bat first.

Eng won the toss vs NZ and elected to bat first.

All three teams have lost to the respective hosts with an innings and some(<100) runs.
Pak lost by innings + 5 runs, BD lost by innings + 46 runs and Eng lost by innings + 65 runs.

So, can we conclude that batting first is not necessarily an advantage in test cricket like how it is talked about.

Du Plussis was talking as if loosing tosses has led his team to loose all the matches since India batted first and put to them bat in darkness on the evening of day 2.

The Eng NZ match was competitive until the third day.

The other two were foregone conclusions.

Aus scored 580 without Smith contributing. Yet all I hear about is how Naseem Shah is the future, Shaheen Shah is a potential all time great etc etc. They should be talking more about Shan Masood and Rizwan who did relatively well. Babar Azam has emerged as a very good player now.

India(BCCI) just played a cruel demented joke on the Bangladeshis by inviting them to a day night pink ball test and unleashing a trio of fast bowlers aiming at their heads while having their Prime Minister watch all this carnage live. Feel a little sorry for them.

when a team gets trashed by an innings and they talk about how their players are future greats is when you realize their fan base has accepted reality. Leave them alone.

On the Ind BD part, having a PM over for some cultural event is a diplomatic victory - on pink ball test being too much for BD they will learn heaps from this i dont put it past them to give some team a trashing when they play next day and night test - its all about experience.
