Should BCCI allow some fringe players to play Big Bash?

The Aussie pitches might be flat but they have an extra bounce that we don’t see on Indian pitches.

Hitting on Indian pitches is not going to be as easy as it is going to be on Aussie pitches.

Guys like Rohit,Kohli and Rahul can be and have been successful here but leave alone guys like Dube,Krunal Pandya etc but I don’t even see guys like Hardik Pandya, Iyer,Pant etc able to cope with the extra bounce and go big on these grounds.

With the WT20 coming up in Aus shouldn’t BCCI let a few players like Pandya bros,Dube,Sundar, Iyer and even some bowlers like Saini and Khaleel play in the big bash league?

BCCI is very myopic in thinking they are protecting brand value but if these guys click in big bash it will only enhance their reputation.

Obviously other leagues have no value like Bangladesh, Pak and Carribean.

The England T20 and the SA league might be Other good option.

I was thinking about the same. Our players are largely one-dimensional hacks on Indian pitches when it comes to T20. But i doubt BCCI would do that. There is a reason why other teams will be better than us. They take part in multiple T20 leagues including IPL. We are stuck to just one league that too just Indian pitches.

Even bowlers like Khaleel, Saini and Sundar or upcoming players like Gopal etc will benefit.

It is about keeping our players for our leagues. If they send Khaleel they cannot stop Rohit or Kohli. They may not go. It is a different thing. But anyone can go. BCCI doesn't want that scenario.

True but don’t think guys like  Rohit, Bumrah  and Kohli will be going even if given the permission.  Guys like Starc etc have dropped out of IPl many times

Why would Kohli go for BBL peanut money? He would rather take a break and earn money through advertisements.

I think BBL teams have 2 overseas players (plus 2 replacements) per squad, total 7-8 teams? Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah won't go....will they be interested in our fringe players? Will our fringe players prefer to play for peanuts in Ozland or hone their skills in domestics in that period to become India regulars and/or more attractive in IPL?

Really want to expose youngsters to those conditions and improve our chances for T20 WC? Make 2 squads of these fringe players..total 25-30 members and send them to Australia along with selectors and some good coaches/support staff from NCA. Make them play 7/9/11 match T20 series spread across venues like Hobart, Cairns, Darwin, Gold Coast, Townsville, some of the less famous grounds in Sydney and Melbourne....CA won't oppose guarantee. In fact with smart scheduling it will be possible to host a few of those matches in marquee stadiums. Broadcast those matches in India (many will tune in compared to BBL) and give a cut to the various (host) Oz state cricket associations and CA.

Telll the players that this series will have 70% weightage for WC T20 selection (and international T20s in lead-up), so that they take it seriously. What better motivation & practice?

Imagine 1-2 months from now a T20 match at Bellerive Oval:

Shaw, Padikkal, SKY, Iyer, Hardik, Ishan, Sundar, Gowtham, Deepak Chahar, Rajpoot, Avesh

vs

Mayank, Pant, Gill, Rana, Samson, Dube, Krunal, Gopal, Rahul Chahar, Khaleel, Saini

Will you tune in to watch this or India vs Lanka?

Waise enough players for our international assignments in Indian conditions (Jan/Feb)...Kohli, Rohit, KLR, Bumrah, Kulcha, Shami, Bhuvi, Ashwin....add a few raw ones who won't be ready next year (Ruturaj, Riyan Parag, Bhui, Mavi, KS Bharat...) but marked for the future....couple of outstanding prospects from U-19 ranks too can be given a taste of cricket at the highest level, will be a fruitful experience for them even if they don't make it to the XI.

BCCI has enough $$$ to make this happen, don't you think?

PS: Pretty sure I am missing a few IPL/SMA stalwarts but you get the picture....far more beneficial than this BBL idea @maniac. And this can be done biennially in SENAW, no need to look at the various T20 leagues, if next T20 WC is in NZ that's where we should host these trial matches preferably 10-12 months before the main event so that the right horses can be identified and backed, 7/9/11 matches will be a large enough sample size. Not to forget the immense experience/practice gained by all the players involved which will undoubtedly pay dividends in the long run. The tentative WC squad should play at least 15 matches in the lead-up so that the squad members jell together and TM can fine-tune strategy, tactics, combos, field positions etc....selected 'fringe' players can bring in their inputs drawing from recent experience thus aiding the decision making process of TM esp when it comes to identifying roles.

And what is the use of IPL when we haven't won a single T20 WC since it started?

IPL has done a lot. India is reaching SF of all the events and dominating in Tests. Not winning anything has to do with BCCI and making Kohli not accountable for any loss. To top it off a man with no experience is the coach. Given a firm decent coach India could and should win all events.

On topic, it's not a bad idea. Not only BBL, even for the blast and CPL. Rest are all crap anyways.

But only issue is that no team will be willing to play fringe Indian players at the expense of their chances of winning the league.

You're right.  I don't see a justification for restricting players who have little to no chance of national LOI selection from taking their skills to another place to make a living.  Whether they will be hired is beside the point.  Maybe the "hitters" won't, but I can easily see some of the bowlers (e.g., Nadeem, Rajpoot, Warrier etc.) being useful in other leagues too.
