Most of us would opt for kuldeep .  However, in the past 1 year or so,  his bowling has lacked the X factor. It was the evident in the WC too. Except for that babar azam dismissal, his bowling was very ordinary throughout.  Further, he is useless with the bat too. We can't afford to hv such a long tail ,with our unreliable middle order.

Or you could call it lack of form.

Hardly, the thing that distinguishes him most from other leg spinners is his consistency. He usually flights the ball more often, which is a hit me ball these days because of 2 new balls & T20. You'll rarely see him bowl short consistently or bowl full tosses either, he does lack the zip though of aWarne which is due to his action.

Useless as compared to who? He's in the Kumble mould, doesn't have too many big shots & is suited for tests. If that's what you call uselss then yeah sure, I've seen worse though even in this Indian side.

That's a different issue altogether, for instance we didn't lost the SF against kiwis just because of our batting. Two of our main bowlers did shite on that helpful surface, I don't even need to name them.

That's one of the excuses peddled by the Dhongi gang after most losses, we needed better batting that's why we picked bowlers who could bat or A/R

You still need your 4 best bowlers in LO, pick them & a good middle order & you'll win a most games especially tight ones. Kuldeep is a top 3 bowler in this side & should be given more game time as much as possible.

Kuldeep is thousand times better. He actually played a key role in getting Kkr to playoffs in last few years. Compare that to Chahal whom not only always choked for Rcb, but also costed India the most important game of the year; the semifinal of the worldcup.

but one thing I have noticed, kohli sadly always pick Chahal over Kuldeep if he has to pick one wrist spinner.

Do you even watch IPL? Chahal has been the best Indian performing bowler in the IPL while Kuldeep is probably the worst along with Shami.

Play both or play none. Two bowlers who got us back on track after CT debacle winning series in SA and England have been derailed thoroughly by Captain and his comrade in arms the coach bombastic for reasons best known to them.

In 2019, here's the how the three spinners have performed

Jadeja - 13 matches, 167 runs@28, 9 wickets@57 (we have lost 6 of these matches, ~50%)

Kuldeep - 21 matches, 29 wickets@34 (we've lost 8 of these matches, ~40%)

Chahal - 16 matches, 29 wickets@28 (we've lost 4 of these matches, ~25%)

In this period, KulCha have played 11 matches together with them 31 wickets@34. We have won 8 of these. Playing them together improves our chances to win by more than 50% (this when supposedly Kuldeep is out of form)

We have destroyed our most critical weapons during middle overs in favour of Jadeja who hardly takes any wickets as the numbers above shows. Because the TM prefers defensive medium pacers, lack of wickets is what hurts us the most, but somehow that is not important at all for the TM. They first launched a targeted attack vs Pant and soon Dube will face their ire as they shamelessly try to deflect attention from their own pathetic leadership.

Bro, You hv mentioned in the 1st para that,  post CT debacle , Kul Cha has helped us win series in SA and Eng.   Can you elaborate on which series win in England you are talking. ?

hetmeyer vs chahal

highlights of this clip

1) chahal chews his shirt collar two times ( cameramen might have missed the third one )

2) after hetmeyer hit a four , chahal gave him embarassed smile .. sign that he is going to get screwed in this over

3) dhoni dyed his beard white .. not sure why he does that :dontknow:

This series and the next odi series in India (where Aus toured India in early 2019) were successive instances of Kul Cha getting hammered by the opponents.  Aussie batsmen literally toyed with these two bowlers and won that series easily.  This forced the TM to think about a change.   Unfortunately, many ICFers hv such short memory.  Whenever we lose an ODI, they start blaming the selectors and start talking about "KulCha should hv played  together" and bla bla..    They don't realise that , except for the ODI series win in SA in 2018, these two bowlers hv had hardly any success together against decent opponents.

That win over south africa is over-rated.. against a team at an all-time low and after that they bowed out of world cup even before Bangladesh.

Kulcha didn't do well in England. Might not do well in Australia.

Era of wrist spinners is now slowly getting over... Even the fastish wrist spinners of Afghans are on a wane.. West Indies defeated them 3-0 recently while the same windies struggled to pick them 3 or 4 years back. Couple of batsman might still struggle but the teams as a whole are getting better.

Kulcha is history. You need a allrounder as a second spinner ( not jadeja )
