Virat wants to experiment in LOIs

Recommended Posts

Experimentation means only shuffling the youngsters, moving them up and down  at his whim while ensuring Rohit and Dhawan are not disturbed, more so Dhawan, Jadeja and when fit Bhuvi have a secure place, a musical chair is played between Kuldeep and Chahal and at least one out of Undatkat, Kaul, Chahar or Shardul are always in the team in the name of young pacers.

  • One of the best moves could be to open with Pant
  • I am ok with Kohli's batting either 3 or 4
  • Bowling is our strength so it should not be compromised. Need to attack with Bumrah, Saini and Shami. Can accommodate both Kuldeep and Chahal (as batsmen are not setting the stage on fire)
  • Other positions can be adjusted based on the above and form :dontknow:

I remember last year against Aus at Delhi, he pushed the panic button and made some changes stating that was India's best balanced side. And then played a different combo in the WC opener :hysterical:

We are only getting to see the damage this Captain, Coach and their band of cheer-leading selectors have done to the team in the last 1-2 years. Expecting the cookie to properly crumble in the next 6-9 months in time before the T20 WC. I totally expect Ashwin, Rahane, Dhoni and Shankar to be back in the team, Bhuvi will be back too.

Rayudu was India"s no.4 designate against WI in 2018. Pant was 2nd WK during that series. KL Rahul was called as only a backup opener to Rohit and Dhawan.

4 months later KL Rahul became India's no.4 and DK was India's 2nd WK. Thereafter no.4 was adorned by many others like Vijay Shankar, Pant etc. That too in the WC :hysterical::hysterical:

This guy had to be booted out a long time ago from captaincy. A perennial loser.

In btw dk became no.4 , then they decided he ll be finisher and in wc when u needed an anchor they send dk who was given finishers role

Lets not forget when he said rahane is our no.4 after which he didnt play a single game

Only trophy we will win under him is the test one. Provided we don't choke there either in final. He really should not be skipper in any format but especially dynamic limited overs. He is brainless with selections,  no grooming and not so great tactician. Honestly a team like ours shouldn't be going downhill but it will in limited overs. He's selecting old friends and a naive person when it comes to key decisions and matches.

His conferences are always the same. Optimistic rubbish and praising opposition, he doesn't even realise  he is a bad leader.

When bhuvi is back fit he will be confused who to play him, shami or saini.

Most on this forum won't accept it, but Finch is a walking wicket against Bhuvi.  And Warner doesn't find it easy either.  It would have been different even today if Bhuvi was fit and playing.

But he has been doing that  since 2017. It has been a ongoing process ever since. With no results to boot.

No idea who is the no.4

No idea which is the best spin combo

No idea who is the all rounder

No idea who is the 5th bowler

No idea who is the late order hitter

No idea who is 3rd seamer or is it the batting/bowling all rounder

Sometimes it is Rayudu, then Jadhav, then Vijay Shankar, then DK, then Pandey, then Pant, then Iyer, then Dube.

It's fair to say he is by far the worst Indian captain in a long time.

Now that you've put it this way it feels like a never ending soap opera.

Yes & no, I'd say his issue for me is lack of patience. We see it in his demeanor & general attitude as well. The best captains ever have had tons of patience, especially with the youngsters. This guy is like a 180 degrees departure from that.

At least now he is doing it without dhoni around . Will learn . For me he is new captain post World Cup as he has shown more brains

What are you talking about? His honeymoon period is over, his results will go down from here, at least in LO games, Dhoni or not!

More like walking with the brain dead :cantstop:

Why can't you think from other angle, India does not have a proper number 4 batsman in the system. Indian bowlers cannot bat thats why there is always a struggle to find the balance , it is not captain's fault.

In 1990s, Indian team was trying so many openers  as they did not have any talented openers in system who could do the job.India has stuggled to replace Kapil Dev as an allrounder, whose faults was/is it.

They wanted Rayudu to do the job but they realized he was not fit for the job so they dropped him. Captain or selectors can only select from the player they are given , they cannot manufacture player.

this exactly is the body language i talk about of his , shaqal dekh lagta hai ki bande ko malum hia match haath se jaa rha hai. Such body language will alway hve a negative impact on team. Its not that other captains dont show emotion but on his face u can see the defeat. This is the reason he chokes

It's quite convenient to say there is no fault of the captain and there are no players available. Let me take you back to mid 2010. Virat had two poor series back to back in Asia Cup and then in SL. He was bang average and struggling. He might have been dropped in this regime with that background. But he was persisted with at the top of the order as the captain and selectors were not short sighted or impatient. And the results were delivered by Virat.

The problem is some of these players forget their own struggles and the backing they got early on when they assess the new players

It's the job of the captain to make a player, to get performances out of him. A player who is always on the cusp of being thrown out of the side or is unaware of his role in the side, will rarely win you matches. If captaincy was only about tossing the coin at the start of the game, then anybody could captain.

How was he bang average in 2010 ,Kohli after his 14th match never averged below 40. Kohli was never bang average in odis, he was awful in his first test series in WI so was dropped.Anyone can have a bad series.Don't mix up things.

If Kohli forgot about his struggles he would have dropped Rahul from tests long time before he was acutally dropped nor would have persevered with Rahul in odis with his 80 SR.Pandya would have played so many tests either.

It is job of captain to try to make any players wanted and he has done that, on the same hand it is not his job to accommodate every tom dick and harry in all formats just becuase some fans want them to.

Kohli is the best captain India ever had  in all formats and he winning % proves it.He leads from the front by performing with bat.

Name a captain, I will give you examples of players they have discarded just after few matches.

@putrevus There are so many parallels between the Kohli the captain in LOIs and IPL. It's a unceasing loop of flip flops, inconsistency and failure. It's an achievement you struggle to see merit in any of that and keep defending this doofus captain.

There are no paralells between Kohli the LOI captain and IPL captain. Kohli has highest winning percentage of all captains bar Ponting that leading a one dimesional team.He averages mere 77 with bat as a captain with just 21 100s in 85 matches.

Show me a better captain in history of the game.Just because he has not won world cup or champion's trophy he does not become a bad captain. He reached Semi final and final in both of them.It is the Kohli the batsman who has let Kohli the captain down.

He is trying his best to create a balance with such an unbalanced squad.

I don't follow IPL and I don't care about. He is the best captain India ever had in all formats.

For some people players who are  outside playing XI  are always better than players who are playing in the team.

The same Thakur won him the match with bat against WI, so he played him against Australia, what the did Saini do in this match other than taking wickets at the end which could have been taken by any bowler bowling in that spot.

Thakur was not the reason why they lost last match nor Saini is the reason why they won this match.Thakur playing one match or Saini not playing one match does not reflect anything on his captaincy.

In post-match interview, Kohli was talking about people pressing panic button in age of social media etc. Why does he bother mentioning such things if they are really trivial to him, as they should be? He seems so caught up in chatter around the team, that he & Shastri both are always trying to answer criticism, rather than focus on their plans and long-term strategy, if they have any. Kohli is so caught up in short-term that he just doesn't have appetite for long-term planning.

Zero big wins, zero legacy, zero young talent groomed after 5 years as captain, BIG FAT ZERO as a leader.

Only thing is Saini is a better bowler. Thakur could score runs against poor SL bowling. Against Australia, not good enough. Saini didn't go for 10rpo.
