zen
Need to develop battle hardened players for the lower MO spots. While Ind’s top 3-4 rake up runs in group games and bilaterals, rarely do they stand up in WC SF/F (unless facing a minnow) esp. since the start of this century: 2003 only Sehwag, who is a naturally agrressive player, stood up. SF was vs Kenya 2007 Failed in the must win game Grp B game vs SL after being upset by BD. Then went on to punish Bermuda 2011 An exception but the MO did well too in the KO games. Playing Asian teams in SF (whipping boys Pak) and F (SL) helped the cause 2015 Same old story 2019 Same old story We still have time till the next WC. #4-7 are key positions in important games. If we continue to rely on top 3, who will do well in the bilaterals and group games, chances are you could be disappointed as usual (but hope for the best). Need to bring in/develop gritty players and/or players who play their natural game without pressure getting to them (Pandya, Pant, etc) if we are to improve our chances of winning a SF/F game in the WC. coffee_rules
Agree. I saw how Kohli was pushing Shreyas to hit shots, it was not natural for him, he ended skying one and almost got out. We have Gill, Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav who are naturally aggressive. Can't develop one with current lot. Pandya is our big white hope!
