My playing 11

1. Gill

2. Mayank

3. Pujara

4. Kohli

5. Rahane

6. Vihari

7. Pant

8. Jadeja

9. Saini

10. Shami

11. Bumrah

----  Gill is in red hot form in the Unofficial Tests in NZ. Just scored a century as an opener. He should be one of the openers.

---- Saini should play ahead of Umesh ... he is in excellent form and Umesh is unreliable in tests in SENA.

----  I prefer Pant in tests in SENA. He catches well to pacers and is a much better batsman than Saha. This is needed in SENA.

----  This is a very strong batting line-up till 8  ... 3 top quality genuine fast bowlers ... 5 bowling options including Vihari.

This is what you will hear  100%.

     Saha in place of Pant

     Umesh in place of Saini

and probably Shaw in place of Gill

Probably.

But for me, Saha over Pant would weaken the batting without any significant improvement in catching ability to pacers.

Quote

     Umesh in place of Saini

Saini is in form and Umesh has never really performed in SENA.

Gill's current form must be utilized.

83 off 83 balls in tough batting conditions.

204 not out off 273 balls

107 batting off 153 balls

in this Unofficial test series in NZ.

Spinners aren't going to win you even if wicket looks like the latter one.

.1. Shaw

3. Pujara

4. Kohli

5. Gill ahead of Rahane as Rahane has not scored heavily in recent India A matches where as Gill has scored heavily.

6. Vihari

7. Saha ( Pant is not a good enough Keeper for tests, Samson is a better keer than Pant and Saha is way ahead of Pant , in test , one cannot afford to miss catching opportunities) I would play Samson in Tests later when his keeping improves, still his keeping is also slightly better than Pant. Saha has much better keeping skills than both.

8. Kuldeep ahead of Jaddu in tests for Sure.

9. Saini ahead of Umesh but if Umesh Yadav is looking good , he can also be played.

10. Shammi

11. Bumrah

if the wicket is slightly green i will play all 4 Pacers and vihari as the only Spinner.

I trust that NZ tracks dont support spinners and if the wicket looks clearly supporting Pacers , we should play our Pacers.

Rahane is VC so he wont be dropped. Ideally wanted Gill in place of him and Mayank/Shaw opening. Thats a solid top 6. with Saha and Jadeja chipping in for the rear guard.

Gill

Mayank

Pujara

Kohli

Rahane (Unlikely to be dropped since he is VC)

Jadeja (Plays ahead of Vihari as 5th bowler)

Pant

Umesh

Saini

Shami

Bumrah

If there's help for seamers, play all 4 & use Jadeja to control over rate. Umesh is good enough with bat.I want to see if he has improved like Ishant 2.0 . Most likely Saha will play in place of Pant.

I like this 11 if the pitch is a flat one ( and requires more pacers ... and 6 specialist batters are not needed )

I like OP's XI. mine is a bit different, although it will never happen:

Gill

Shaw

Pujara

Rat

rahane

Pant

Jadeja

Saini

Umesh

Shami

Bumrah

batting till 7 (with 8 and 9 capable of slogging a bit) and 5 proper bowling options. will need more bowling on these pattas.
