Whom will the TM make scapegoats for this embarrassing debacle?

Recommended Posts

Let’s look at who this TM will most likely target for the shameful surrender.

1. Pant - His career is almost over. They have messed him up mentally all tour and then out of the blue, thrust him for the tests. He did not look ready and should blame himself for blowing his chances.

2. Rahane - Senior batsman, another failure in SENA. Barring a miracle, he will be removed from the team

3. Pujara - Another poor series and the TM has already blamed his slow batting. TM and it’s media consorts will blame his lack of aggression for team’s poor batting

4. Vihari - Like Pant, will be blamed for not taking his chances and could be dropped from the team

They will keep backing the bowlers and spinners pinning the blame on the above 4. Obviously no questions asked from the captain. Defence will be that our domestic cricket is poor, we have no young talent , captain can’t do much.

What wrong have bowlers done this series? Get 160+190 (T1) and even Lloyd's quartet+Warne won't save you. This match they stepped up only for batsmen to give it away in 3rd innings. Why all the time only bowlers have to be blamed? What records have our batters created this series?

How many more excuses for Pant? This is getting boring now. Sure give him an extended run but every time he fails don't deflect blame.

Do we have similar expectations from other wks or only Pant? Since when we started comparing a wk/bat with specialist batsmen. We never did that with Dhoni who does not have a single 100 overseas in his career.

Why can't people accept when he fails? Why bring in CIA, Mossad, Putin, Obama, Xi, KFC every time to show as if he is the most wronged person in human history? Only Bakis do that nonsense. Whatever chances he has been given in shorter formats he failed miserably. In tests got a couple of 100s when match/series was already decided. Not saying he isn't good, not saying he hasn't been badly treated, but fanboyism beyond a point won't prove anything to anyone.

Just accept he failed, he is lacking in many areas, that he must improve, move on. Stop making him look like victim 24x7x365. This TM has mismanaged many youngsters, that is reality, no one is denying. But when some opportunity presents itself player must accomplish something. At least Pant is getting chances, look where Nair is atm.

i agree. Pant kept well. And it is not like Saha would have made a difference either with WK or batting .... If Saha had played, people would be like, Pant should have played, and so on

We certainly failed with new ball, taking early wickets in all innings. Look at how NZ bowlers swing and took early wickets. We need an out and out swing bowler to support our seam bowlers

But you have no answered the question vis a vis Pant vs other keepers. If Dhoni was never held to these standards, why is suddenly Pant being held? Will you go for a better bat then? What is your point here?

Their bowlers bowled better partly due to the fact that our batsmen let them to. Didn’t rotate strike and defensive techniques.

Team selection is to blame. When we go to places like Eng/NZ, even RSA need Bhuvi. Since he was unfit we should have selected Chahar.

I support Pant as keeper. I want him to be given an extended run in tests as well as T20s. Just that I don't believe in making excuses if he fails.

Dhoni the test cricketer was a disgrace, esp what he did post 2011. Can't speak about others , at least for me he is no benchmark.
