Which teams are shaping up well? Who are the likely semi finalists?

If not for the grouping, I would have picked Aus, Eng, WI, NZ(despite the 0-5 against India)

But with this grouping, England, India, WI, Aus are likely semi finalists

NZ will have an improved bowling attack in Aus .... Will not discount SA, the darkhorse this time, if de Kock, Malan, Dussen, Klaasen, Rabada, Ngidi, etc. play well

WI would have a mix from Russell, Pollard, Hope, Hetmyer, Pooran, Simmons, etc., so if it is playing well, it can be scary  .... Eng has firepower and Aus would be playing at home

Quite an open world cup depending upon which teams shape up well in the tournament

India England is going to be a crucial battle. If India somehow manages to win it, they can finish top of the group and face the less strong team from the other group (probably New Zealand) and one of the stronger England Australia teams will be knocked out. This means an easier route to the final and then it’s anyone’s game. Interestingly this was similar to what happened in the ongoing women’s t20 World Cup although there was an upset in the other group as well and India got England in the semis (and possibly Australia in the final, if both teams win the semis that is)

If Ind plays with an 11 like below, it can "really" compete well:

KL

Shaw/Rohit/Gill (depending upon form)

Pant (batting in the top order)

Kohli

Iyer

Pandya

Rana (can bowl too) or if some big hitter like Samad, Abhishek Sharma is in good form and shows potential

3 inform bowlers per conditions and opposition from: Shami, Saini, Bhuvi, Krishna, Kuldeep, Chhal, R Chahar, ....

Bumrah

If we have below, the bowling will have to fire "big time", and it could also depends upon how (badly) other teams are playing:

Dhawan

Rohit

Kohli

KL

Iyer (or Dhoni if he makes his way back post IPL)

Pandya

Jadeja

Bhuvi

Shami

Chahal

Bumrah

Group 1

Aus (home advantage)

NZ (good AR team)

WI (batting advantage)

Group 2

Eng (batting advantage)

Ind (bowling advantage)

SA (dark horse)

still early days but which ones should I go for? :hmmm:

It will be an interesting tournament for sure on the fast paced bouncy wickets of Australia.

I dont think India has a chance to win the tournament. England,  Australia,  WI have a strong chance.

India is lucky to be placed in an easier group and are expected to win against SA to qualify for the Semis.  They will most likely meet WI/Aus at the Semis and England/Aus/Wi in the finals and i dont back them to beat two strong sides in back to back matches.

Group 1 is the Group of the Death.  There is no chance of an India Pakistan contest in this WC barring a miracle.  Cant see Pakistan progressing ahead of NZ,  WI and Australian.  I wish one of the teams between NZ and Pakistan was placed in the Indian Group,  it would have been two more balanced groups rather than one easier group and the other group of death.

I think if India drops Dhawan & let KL open we might have a chance.  Also we need a power packed dynamic guy who can bowl as well (Nitish Rana perhaps).  Semi is going to be tough one for us. Final is in huge MCG where our spinners can do the job for us.  Rahul Chahar need to be given more chances.
