My joint India-Pakistan XI of 1970s to 1980s to play West Indies XI of that era Sunil Gavaskar Majid Khan Javed Miandad Gundappa Vishwanath Mohinder Amarnath Mushtaq Muhammad Kapil Dev Imran Khan (W) Wasim Akram Abdul Qadir Wasim Bari (W) In sub-continent conditions I would select Bishen Bedi instead of Wasim Akram of that time and Dilip Vengsarkar instead of Mohinder Amarnath. On fast Australian tracks or some in the Carribean I would back West Indies XI.However on seaming English tops I would give Indo-Pak XI the marginal edge.On flat pancakes Indo-Pak XI would be favourites in my view.Indo-Pak XI is more talented but the Calypsos have more match winners like Viv ,Greenidge or Marshall.Indo-Pak XI has more variety in bowling,genuine allrounders unlike their counterparts and more batting depth.Still it is the Calypsos who ae more explosive in batting and bowling.
