A Pakistani court on Thursday overturned the murder conviction and death sentence of Ahmed Omar Sheikh, a British-born militant who had been convicted of masterminding the 2002 abduction and killing of the American journalist Daniel Pearl, lawyers said.

The court also overturned the convictions of three other men who had been serving life sentences in the case. All four men were expected to be freed soon, lawyers said.

This is not the 1990s, these guys can't be playing games like this.  Killing an American journalist is not like hijacking an Indian airplane.

Hard to interpret this in any way other than that PakMil mafia is shitscared and needs to "manage" its nonstate actors, by giving them few perks for staying allied with the PakMil, and not rise up against them.

Just like the CCP, PakMil's decisions are all rational and predictable.  It is about regime survival, not what's good for Pakistan and Pakistanis.

Terrorists freeing terrorists

whats new?

You have to keep an eye on your enemy.  These events are like canary in the coalmine.  They are indicators of future choices and policy decisions that the 'terrorists' in charge of Pakistan will make.

Then they will cry Indoos and Endians killing innocent Terrorists. Its all American conspiracy. And they should not be in Grey list FATF

In 'normal' times, releasing this murderer would have 100% seen them blacklisted by FATF.  Pakistan is in such bhikaari state, that in the times of COVID, the world cannot put more economic sanctions on them - already thousands of poor pakistanis will be dying and hungry.  This action is a shamelessly cynical use of timing by the PakMil mafia.

They are desperate.  And scared.  They know the countdown to ending rebellion in Kashmir has begun.  Already Ladakh is sliced off.  Jammu is already dominated and controlled by pro-India population.  With the a370 abrogation, and change in domicile rules, if Pakistan doesn't manage to "do something", India will inevitably succeed in pacifying even the Kashmir valley in a few years.

Add to this, the Taliban comeback and the iminent increase in chaos and warlordism in Afghanistan means that the jihad sentiment, and availability of weapons in Pakistan will rise.  PakMil has decided to re-activate its non-state actors.  This "court verdict" is a big giant red flashing sign that the undeclared war is about to step up.

I'm glad Ajit Doval is NSA right now, and not some Congress appointed fuddu.

why feed the impotent puppet's social media metrics - its the usual "racist, hindu supremacist Mudi" trash.  Whining and crying about J&K domicile law changes.

This law change is AWESOME.  And will yield spectacular results in 10 to 20 years.  The countdown to the end of the "Kashmiri" rebellion has begun.

Omar Sheikh is one of the terrorists released because of IC 814 hijacking, one of the most pitiful events in independent India's history. Padosi jihadi dumps deserve another round of bombing every time these guys give terrorists a free pass.

End of 90s and early 2000s were the absolute worst times for India.  Repeated waves of jihadi attacks, and nothing to stop them.  They blew up up J&K parliament.  They attacked INDIAN parliament.  And India did nothing.

Never again.  Any attack, even non-fatal, on Indians that is originated/funded from Pakistan, HAS to be reciprocated with a lethal response.  Preferably public.  That is the only language PakMil will respond to.  Pay attention to the fact that after "crows" died in Balakote post-Pulwama, they have been very, very hesitant to allow any major attack to occur.

This release may portend a shift in that policy though.  The upcoming health and economic disaster in Pakistan is sure to rile up the restless jihadis.  And the PakMil will likely choose to let them loose against India, instead of risking civil war at home.

Tough, testing times for India ahead.  Just like COVID has a 2 week lag in showing symptoms, these actions of PakMil will show their impact months from now.

Reality is this that religious fanatics have already made inroads in all organisations of Pakistani State. Either it is Police or Judiciary or Army. It is now only a question of "complete dominance".

These fanatics openly threaten all the Judges. Therefore, no judge take their cases, but only those judges take their cases who are their supporters.

I absolutely agree with this. If India bombs them one more time, in the name of Daniel Pearl, No one will complain.
